So who here got the dreaded Underage ticket in college?

dude i say man up take the charges and then go and have a nice long *talk* with the room mate that called the cops.but then again this is coming from another under age guy that enjoys a beer every so often

Less than 24 hours and already at 6 pages...man...I thought I was the only one who constantly surfed the internet at work...I feel better now...

Community Service Deferral

Go infront of the DA, if she agrees to the CSD, you get 24 hours of community service, 60 days of unsupervised probation, and you have to pay the court 345 dollars.

After those 60 days, it disappears. Thank god for having a lawyer.

Also I learned that PJC's (Prayer for Judgement Continuance or something like that) granted on Traffic Tickets, fall under a completely different category then criminal offenses, such as a drinking ticket. In other words, you can have multiple PCJ's, and they dont affect each other in any way, as long as they are under different law categories. Sweet.

I had 2 or 3 of those during undergrad, no big deal IMO. Just dont get your stomach pumped like I had to. Bonging Cisco back in the day wasnt as cool as I thought.

It's not like it a felony or something...unless you're applying for the CIA,FBI, or secret service..no employer is going to give a shit that you got an under age drinking ticket. My buddy is a detective with the sheriffs dept. in Ft Myers Fla. He and I got into some trouble a couple of times when we were younger, neither of us had any issues later on in life. Either pay the lawyer or own up. I wouldn't lose a whole lot a sleep about it.

I wouldnt be so sure about that.
A misdemeanor at age 17 has cost me a job and a seat on a state board so far in my 29 year old life.

And it was nothing more than the one stated here. (I was cited for disorderly conduct [drunk in public] when I stepped out of the vehicle that our Designated Driver was driving at the order of a cop at a license check)

So just because it hasnt effected you, is can effect some.

Then neither should college recruiters be allowed, nor job recruiters at school job fairs, because, after all, this is when kids are at their decision making years.
They/we are allowed because it is a government funded entity, don't want military recruiters on campus, go to a private non-government funded school, and rarely you will find a recruiter there, if you do, it's because the school is military friendly.

This is asinine.
I went to college, but I was free to quit at anytime.

BTW I only went after the marines wouldnt take me because of my 2 reconstructive knee surgeries in HS...funny I could play college football but not join the military

Once you sign up for military duty you cant leave

Sorry, but a juvenile record is permanent. And yes, according to the current law, he can be blown up, but not drink, don't like it, lobby to change it.

No a juvenile record is sealed once a juvenile reaches the age of maturity and can only be accessed for confirmation of history by a judge or DAs order and can not be published anywhere at anytime.

not that I spent 3 years in a JDC growing up or anything ;)

You can quit at anytime, you just have to accept the consequences of your actions, happens daily.

And your knee, it's to save the government money in the long run. Three years after you're in, you go on a 25 mile hike, prior service injury is re-injured, now uncle sam has to pay your surgery, then, after you get out, it's considered a service related injury and you could get disability pay for it, so, they're looking to save a buck or two.

Yes, they're sealed, but I pulled plenty of juvenile records when I was on recruiting duty. It's a myth that you can't access them. All that was required was a simple "Police Records Check", little Johnny signs it, I go to the station and pull every incident involving the law since the day he was born. My oldest guy I enlisted was 32, and I pulled his records from three different states;)

And in case you didn't know, I've been in for over 21 years active duty;)

As stated, taking responsibility for your actions builds character... weaseling out builds crackheads & welfare bunnies...

And in case you didn't know, I've been in for over 21 years active duty;)

And persistent about his convictions too! :usa:

FWIW, I could easily foresee several thousand pages of replies. Unless the topic is closed or you get tired of "e-head butting" Rich... whichever comes first.

So you got 3 years in in a JDC for this? If you spent 3 years in JDC I think that might have something to do with it costing you a job.
My point is (as he has found out) this isn't the end of the freaking world. I have more experience than one would want with the wrong side of the law and it wasn't JDC. Just learn from what happened and be aware of what your doing and the consequences that could come of it,BEFORE THE POPOS SHOW UP .Your roommate (fatsack of shit)however, failed the no snitching part of his ghetto report card.

NO JDC came in when I was 10.
Mainly because my parents were shit, and I followed their actions. I got in 4 or 5 fights in school and my parents wouldnt even come to talked to the principal, they refused. So the last time I was in the 6th grade and was jumped by a dude who was a senior in highschool (we just lived in a REAL SHITTY area) after getting the shit kicked out of me I hit him in the head with a rock, repeatedly....enter JDC...

No charges, no record, just state custody.

The only charge on my record is the Public Drunk from freshman year of college.

But for $400 and another 6 months of paperwork, that will soon be expunged (sp?)

We are all heading back down to our room, and he steps out to try and talk to us about it. I spit in his face.

He comes into the room and tries to "talk to me" mostly by grabbing me and trying to slam me up against the wall. I kick the shit out of him

He punches me.

THe other 2 guys in the room push him off, and tell him to get his fat stinking ass out of the room, and to come back to only get your shit, and never talk to us again.

He hasnt been back.

sounds untrue, but the spitting in his face part sounds like a woman move to me

also didnt see this thread for a while, havent seen it since you called me a fag for saying you deserved it.

infantry: thanks for being one of the few guys who isnt a coward about getting caught doin somthing wrong

sounds untrue

Sounds untrue? Your opinion at this point doesnt matter.

In any case, I think im going to lawyer up and get them to deal with it. I dont have time for community service, or going to court, or any of that other bullshit.

Plus Boone is stupid. Their drinking tickets up here are Class 2 Misdemeanors, unlike EVERYWHERE else, ever. I think that reserves me the right to do everything I can to get out of it. And I will.

Doesn't matter what "everywhere else" does, the locality sets the local laws ;)

You have the right to lawyer up, but you also have the manly moral obligation to "man up" and take your punishment. Respect is earned not given and someone that man's up to their knowingly wrong deeds has more respect in my eyes,...enjoy.

I think your daddy should have whooped your ass more when you were younger.

:lol::lol::lol:

I would have to kick my roomates ass for doing what he did. I had a roomate in my dorm that would eat all of my food. I threw all of his belongings out off the balcony!

I don't know about EVERYWHERE else, but EVERYWHERE in NC it's a Class 2 misdemeanor to purchase, possess or consume alcohol if you are under 21. The only variation is that it is only a Class 3 misdemeanor to purchase or possess beer or wine and/or consume any alcohol if you are 19 or 20. It is STILL a Class 2 misdemeanor to purchase or possess liquor even if you are 19 or 20.

It has absolutely nothing to do with local laws. Whether you agree with the law or not...debate on....but be sure you know what the law IS.

Wow, some of you guys just looove to take it up the ass from the government, don't you? I'm all for personal responsibility and manning up for your actions, but some of the comments in here are just ridiculous.

Being a sheep and just "following the law" is what's caused so many stupid laws to be made in the first place and cost us so many personal freedoms.

Bottom line, I'm not saying what happened in this particular situation was completely okay. I'm just really surprised to hear all of this "take it like a man, do whatever the government tells you" crap. Sometimes if you don't agree with a law, it takes actively breaking it to bring about any change. Our country is founded on those actions!

It sounds like to me he's mostly handled it like a responsible person so far. He stayed behind to accept his ticket, he's looked into hiring a lawyer to protect his interests (which is his RIGHT), and he seems prepared to accept some sort of punishment.

I think those of you arguing about joining the military vs. going to college vs. going to work in some other industry have missed one MAJOR point. We have a draft in this country. Last time I checked, colleges and other businesses don't. That means you can be FORCED to go die for your country, but you can't drink a beer? I support the draft, but I find that logic flawed.

My advice is to see if you can take a drug/alcohol class. I know they offer one around here and it's the most common way to minimize any future/permanent impact. As long as you complete it, it doesn't go on your record.

I think your daddy should have whooped your ass more when you were younger.

that was my thoughts, i don't act like a fool because my parents kept me in line when i was young, and im not tryig to impress anyone now. If your parents are ok with the way you act, than they are as low as you.

as far as my opinion not mattering: i was the first to respond saying that you could get a lawyer and get out of it, thus answering your post, then i said that its still your fault, and you decide thats when you can call me a fag from the safety of your computer in boone. Coward move. same as spitting in your roommates face, coward move again.
then all that stuff you say about kicking the shit out of people, i ONLY hear that kind of talk from people who cant win fights so they resort to running their mouths. people who are confident usually don't have to say they "kicked the shit out of fat sack of shit blah blah blah." because they aren't trying to feel big

Overall, 1)infantry is right, take responsibility suck it up and man-up
2) if you DO get a lawyer, why even come here complaining about a citation? get a lawyer and dont tell us on here about it, and we wont think you are an idiot for getting caught doing somthing that anyone could get away with if they wanted to
3) quit trying to flex your muscles and talk about beating people up. running your mouth is fine online, but if you try it in person, people will test how tough you claim to be, and you will get your face broken in by someone you piss off

enjoy court

Yeah, i looked it up alot, and found out that my room mates dad was totally wrong. Its a class 2 every where, class one if your 21 and provide it to a minor.

And up here you have to be 20 for it to be class 3 rather than 2, so i missed that by about 4 months.

CAS22, if your fine with the government sticking a huge dick up your ass, thats cool. I on the other hand am not, and I dont want a class 2 misdemeanor sticking on my record and possibly preventing me from a job further down the road. I didnt flex any muscles, i was just telling the story as it went down. I dont have anything to prove to anyone here, especially you.

My parents are from up north, where kicking your kids ass for not doing something is actually looked down upon.

Apparently so is not teaching your child to accept responsibility for their actions. Bottom line, you knew the law, you knew you were breaking it, and you got caught. Serves you right, stupid law or not.
