They done the same thing this time last year.
Wife's managed to get 2 tickets from this deal already.

It's total BS and completely about the numbers....I found it earlier this AM but can't find the link now, the DMV does some sort of tabulation of citations....etc and this is the time of year they have to do this crap.

Anyway, I told my kids that drive, no matter HOW ridiculous, keep it under the speed limit!

I always go with the rule, "Go with the flow." Sometimes the flow is 5 mph or more over.

"This guy was speeding down the highway, unconcerned because he was traveling in a group of cars all going the same speed.

They passed a trooper running radar, however, and the black-and-white pulled out and got the guy who wasn't concerned.

When the trooper handed him a ticket, the guy said: "I know I was speeding, but I don't think it's fair. There were plenty of other cars going just as fast. So why did I get the ticket?”

The trooper smiled and said: "Have you ever gone fishing?”

"Sure,” the driver said. "Many times.”

The trooper grinned, then asked: "Did you ever catch all the fish?”

Enjoy your week and drive safely."

I was always told the unwritten rule in NC was "9 you're fine, 10 - you're mine" Meaning, 9 and below they don't bother with because it doesn't go on insurance and the tickets are usually plead away. 10 and above is a bigger deal, so they go after those. This changing? If so, I probably need to slow down. I typically set the cruise about 7-8 mph above the speed limit.

Now, Michigan was always, "Just keep up with the flow of traffic and you're fine. I've seen NC cops pull over several vehicles at a time, though. They could effectively pull over "the flow of traffic" - I don't know how, but they did.

"How fast can you go on the highway without getting the attention of police? Anything under 10 miles per hour over the speed limit is okay, right?

Well, the North Carolina Department of Transportation is ready to burst the bubble on the widely believed 9 mph cushion myth"

I'd say during this sandy bergina season, 1 over will get you a ticket...but this is a DA's worst nightmare. Tons of tickets busted down to "improper equipment" but guess what...you still have to pay court costs, and it's time out of your day.

You can always tell when someone high up has nothing to do and is trying to justify their paycheck.

Went past 3 cops on my way home from work today, I was going 5 over and not one of them blinked.

  1. Followed an unmarked down 26 think he was a detective. The dodge was showing 70 but its not corre ted for 35s. So bout 76-77?

My contractors and I were just talking about how many cops we have seen out on the roads in Goldsboro this week. Been a ton lurking at all the usual places and then some. I even went through a license check close to work in Goldsboro. Seen quite a few around today as well.

Guess I'll be sure to keep it as close to the speed limit as I can. :)

Same thing happened to us on the way to the drag strip about 12 trucks with trailers plus another 4-5 cars driving speed limit was 70 we were all running 85. Guy that got pulled said trooper said he just looked for the biggest truck and trailer and pulled that one

There is a Governors Highway Safety Campaign going on right now but at our department is more about finding DWI's. I think the one over is a state thing. I heard nothing about it at work, only on the news.

I had class with a SHP this weekend and we talked about all kinds of things. He said his bosses were pushing seatbelt tickets on them like crazy. He doesn't even agree with the law but he has to do what he is told. So be sure to wear your belts in Greenville NC!

Money grab, scare tactic or not, I've seen at least two a day on 501 between Durham and Roxboro the last week or so. Only one has been sitting and running radar. The rest have all had someone pulled. Used to drive the same route to and from where I hunt in VA, from my old apartment in RTP and never see a damn one. I'll be rolling the limit on the way to Harlan next week for sure.

I'd heard that in a pack of vehicles they pull the biggest vehicle because it's more likely what the radar caught.

yeah I get all that, but I've been in a lot of situations where going slower than the flow feels more dangerous than keeping up with it.

I saw 9 SHP cars at the church at the end of my road. They were all standing in the parking lot having a pow wow. I imagine they filled some ticket books this afternoon.

Does the NCHP work for the DOT?
