speed crackdown in NC?

So what is the + / - for accuracy on a radar or laser?

1 mph.
So my guess is the 1 mph ticket could easily be beat in court. That would be a range of 3 mph (54,55,56) so a 66% chance of a 1 mph over reading being incorrect.

There were several HP's cruising Candler Tuesday night. I was coming in late from work and kind of in a foul mood when an "idiot" in a SUV wouldn't go when the light turned green. I put the TJ in gear and laid on the horn. Turned out to be "the man." He hit those sparkling blues on the back of his unmarked and pulled into Ingles as he said to himself, "Only an idiot honks at a state trooper."

$$,$$$,$$$

I'm not in a hurry to be anywhere. Life is going by. Might as well enjoy the ride.

Drove the F-350, set the cruise on 55....felt like I could walk faster. I usually rip about 9-14 over......speedo on the F-150 is off.

What is the margin of error w/ a GPS speedo on a smart phone?

Father-n-law just called and said troopers are lined up 5 deep on the on-ramp to 77-S near Charlotte with one trooper on the bridge with a gun shooting.

10 deep on a ramp on Business 40 West in between Greensboro and Winston-Salem this morning doing the same.

If you want to go steal some shit, now is the time to do it.

So now I guess we know how the state is gonna make the bond payments for NCConnect.

btw- the BEST radar only claims 1 mph. All of them probably are 3-4 mph off. Don't see what the cars speedo or tires have to do with it though.
If the officer uses any other means to write up a 1 mph ticket, he would be a moron.
It's widely acknowledged that pacing and oe estimation is only with 2-3 mph.
Everything else relies on the officers reaction time .... only cats and hockey goalies have those reflexes.

I have beat radar ticket by pointing out I know how radar works, and the officer claimed to clock me in an area full of metal building, around a curve , over a hill.
When I started talking radio geek and FCC stuff to the assistant DA, and showed him a copy of my FCC license which is the highest non-commercial license you can get ( Ham Radio Extra Class ) he gave up.

Not just the accuracy but the calibration status is important. If you find yourself with a ticket request the calibration records for the speed detecting device. May get lucky and it will be out of date.

On the commute today everyone reduced their speed by 10-15 mph, but the following distance was way closer. Wouldn't be surprised if they have a spike in rear end collisions because of this. Raleigh area just doesn't have the infrastructure to move the volume out and in. Hence people haul ass to get out of the city.

following distance was way closer.

Not sure how that's possible. I used to drive Raleigh to Durham and back every day. It's no exaggeration to say that the left two lanes of I40 looked like Talledega with ten laps to go. Every. Damn. Day.
