Well my first cage is done. 2.5x2.5x3/16wall with dom tubing where you see it (its what the scrap guy had lol). Didn't mean to but quickly turned into humvee style so went with it. Paint was free so used it...I love it.
Will def need to add lots more bracing on the roof (I guess) but that's all I could get at this time.

Do you not understand how a unitized chassis functions? Please do not let your family ride in this thing.

"borrowing" materials from work huh? Honestly will probably hold up just fine, gotta be heavy as hell though.

What keeps a square from turning into a parallelogram?

The design is poor, but by sheer mass it pretty much has to be stronger than the construction of a stock XJ, right?

Turn all those squares into triangles and it should hold up fine.

I mean to be honest this is correct. You could model it and see what kind of forces it would take but 2.5" .187 square tubing is a hell of a lot stronger than 1.75 .120 hrew. If you don't want to design just throw weight at it.
It's all welded with a 110v flux core anyway...

On another note, if you want to silence all the haters and if the flats would allow it, I'd put down $300 for you to push it on it's side down a decent hill the next open ride.

first throught.... triangles. but thats been said

second thought..... where does this tie into the "frame"? youve removed a lot of the body. an in an XJ, thats kinda what gives the frame strength. whats keeping the rear from collapsing in on itself?

First I wanna say what the hell. And then I say I kinda like it

There was a cherokee buggy for sale on here that was cut similar to yours (better cage styling) and I wanted it

Frame is completely reinforced, rockers too, then flat bottom sliders, rear is reinforced with 1/4plate where bumper was then I made a bumper and cage ties into that. In the middle its tied into rockers which are more stout than you could desire.
More info on this please. I know it needs more bracing but ran out of material but what is "more triangles". Thank you

Triangles are the strongest geometric shape. More triangles in the cage stronger it is

I would but too risky breaking front axle...I'd do it for free as I trust it 110% but can't afford broken hubs/steering/or other mechanical stuff. Good idea though lol
