Suspicious acting guys at Uwharrie today

uretl2.jpg

I can get those made up at 3"x5", for $2.99 a piece. If someone wants to print their own I can send them the PNG original, or if someone can find a place to print them bigger I will help also.

Lefty, didn't mean to ignore you, I 'd be glad to use the napkins. Like I said, I'm there, use me. To some that don't know me, I am a wheeler at heart. I know how important it is to keep the trails maintained. U R E population is going to grow so fast especially when the economy turns around. My old crystal ball is cracked and chipped but sometimes it works just fine. When I respond to things on here I don't care if it is club or individual. WE need to help the trails out, and they will take care of us. True?

I can get you in touch with a guy who can do 6" stickers for less than $1/ea and they are HIGH quality laminated vinyl. Right now it is the guy that I *think* will bee doing future ECORS stickers.

Terry,
this may be a great idea...

We could get clubs or organizations to sponsor napkins for you, that have some etiquette or rules on them and maybe a club logo. Let me ask around and see about some sources to print on napkins....Id even be willing to get involved and have some ECORS sponsored napkins with off road etiquette that would aslo advertise a bit with us....

On 11-8 we were get ready to head out and there was a guy at the Outpost with the same gear BP/clipboard and he said they were there to do an art project, he was driving an Xterra and I think one of the guys in our group got his contact info.

Not a promblem, just a tought that came to mind as I was reading the post. Figured your there, people are hungry and you probaly give out napkins. Kinda of a "two birds with one stone" thought. I think that some sponsored napkins would be a great way to get the "people" that the post is referring to, to the sponsor's web page or at least spark some interest in that club.

I've kinda missed this thread but got some good read out of it.

has this been mentioned?

leaving copies of trail etiquette with hot dog Terry and the Outpost and the MT market for folks to grab and read.

sticker ideas are good too - to show that even off the road the message about OHV 'enthusiasts' is we TREAD LIGHTLY.

I dont think, just leaving them for others to pick up and read, is the answer.
We need to put them in folks hands, if we use fliers, cards, napkins, or keychains etc...

Gotta be an agressive campaign..lol

If anyone decides to go the sticker route in what ever shape or form just let me know. I will help in anyway I can. Here is a quick design I threw together leaning more to the bold side of things:

Maybe I think a little bit differently, but I think it should read
" Please don`t litter / Help keep our trails clean" (or something to that affect)
Yes, we need to be aggressive in our campaigning but I think people tend to be more receptive when asked rather than have it sound like enforcement. (JMO)

I think we could use trash cans at the popular wheelin spots on the trail where people gather. and those orange plastic fences may help keep people from going off trail. maybe this is something the fs has tried or has thought about. i dunno. I just know parks have them on walking trails, so they could help here too.

This is a great idea, as long as someone volunteers to change the bags.

I can make 2 different versions, because like I mentioned its more of a bold version. So those who think a more brazen approach is good can have theirs, and those who are more subtle can have theirs.

Keep in mind we are trying to get through to the group that knows what they are doing is wrong. Its common knowledge of right/wrong really that your aren't supposed to litter, and you shouldn't tear up the trails/go off the trails. I will admit that there may be a few that are naive, but the majority know what they are doing. And fear of punishment/repercussions is usually the only thing that gets through to them.

That would be great. If he has templates for the 6" that would be even better. And I can adapt the current ones to the 6" ones. Just let me know.

^^^^^^^ I really like these two. I'll take a couple of each, let me know where to send my money.

Read through the thread.

Things I dont like.

Anything that can become litter that is single use. The napkins, flyers and what not can become litter, while they are cool ideas advertising your stance on the litter itself might be counterproductive.

The wording of the original sticker. Reads like a empty threat. We all also know, some of the retards are going to take that as a challenge.

Things I like.

The sticker reworded, nice, I'd sport one on both my rigs.

The fact it seems there might actually be some emphasis on curbing the problem instead of just cleaning up after it.

Here are a few ideas.

Quite awhile ago I remember the trash bags being handed out at different places. Fairly small one but they were intended to be hung in your vehicle and had the logo or ad of the company on them. Maybe a little larger one printed with 2 or 3 trail etiquette rules on them. Something like Save the trails, stay on them. Save the trails, pack out more than you pack in. Whatever as long as its short and to the point. You also could add trash bags to the air stops that were discussed and or get the Outpost to hand them out with trail passes.

The trick is to make it simple and clean while getting the message out.

I'm for that SKIHI, How about this? IF YOU GET THESE TRAILS CLOSED,WHERE ARE YOU GOING NEXT?

I second the ntotion of giving them to Terry to hand out w/ the hotdogs - e.g. napkins as SkiHi suggested - everybody needs a napkin w/ their dog, right?
Key is just makingit something they need and will not just become more trail trash.

I am all for trail etiquitte, but what are most of you gonna do when someone smarts off to youwhen you hand them a flyer?? I bet they will be getting off the ground and trying to find their teeth. How will this look to the law you think?

you could print it on everyones windsheild but the bottom line is the people doing the offences are not going to be detured by printed rules because they don't give a sh#t. we just have to be willing to do our best to make up for their crap.

How much litter is on the trails?

To attract more attention to the flyers or napkins I suggest a younge lady to help me with napkins and or flyers, or I could be toppless and draw in the ladies for the flyers! What you think?
