So I think we have all heard about the dumb a$$es who catch their house on fire during thanksgiving by frying a turkey..this is kinda one of those stories.

Thursday morning I started frying our turkey. I had the deep fryer by my shed which houses all my stuff. My brother was out back playing with my dog. They were playing fetch and he threw the ball close to me. My dog ran by the deep fryer and knocked it over. Well the hot oil went over by my fuel cans and melts the cans and ignited the fuel......up in flames went my shed. I lost all my excess parts, lawn mower, Christmas decorations, tools, air compressor, everything. Good news is that Statefarm came out today and homeowners is replacing everything.

But because I have an amazing wife, she made me continue my plans of wheeling Friday to better my mood. I have been sick about this till today when I talked to my insurance agent.

Brandon, I'm so sorry - this just sucks! I'm glad insurance is taking care of everything but it still doesn't take the suck away.

May be time to upgrade to an oil-less fryer! ;)

Damn, sounds like Chevy chase movie!

Glad there were no injuries. Count your blessings..

I blame this solely on the fuel can industry.

If fuel cans were still made of steel, not plastic, they wouldn't have melted, and ignited. Oil on the outside, gas on the inside.
You should sue and make a million dollars.

Like with the truck and trailer....it’s all material things. My insurance agent about had a heart attack when I started saying what the parts were worth. But again no body was hurt and luckily we had a baked turkey and ham.

Wasn’t really his fault. My puppy is 7 months and hyper. It was an honest mistake.

Damn! Punch your brother in the mouth yet? Glad no one was hurt.

Everything can easily be replaced. Just hate to lose all the parts I had stored. Didn’t help either that I bent a control arm the next day.

^I know my Atlas was in there. It must have melted too!

wow that sucks. Hopefully you can laugh about it, because it sounds like a funny story. Glad no one was hurt.
Now, not only will I laugh when I see the next State Farm commercial, I will be able to tell everyone in the room a little backstory how it relates to this guy from Fayetteville on nc4x4.com

My agent is a good friend of mine so he bent a few rules. However I did lose 3 transfer cases, two tj rubi d44’s and a couple motors. I should make out ok. But again at least no one was hurt and it was just my shed not my garage or house. I can start to laugh now but it still hurts. In better news my tj is about to get a lot of love.

All this happened and you still brought your brother wheeling Friday??
like I said if you need that control arm I have some here.

Lord I hope the OK tub and frame are OK

I kept seeing reference to the "shed" and it took me this damn long to find this thread o_O

Yes that’s why they were laughing about Friday was better then “yesterday” plus my wife knows me well enough that she knew that was the only way to become happy again lol.

@CasterTroy the LJ is in really bad shape. I’ll send you pictures of it tonight when I get home. But I don’t think the tub or frame can be used for anything. It barrel rolled a few times it appears. The pictures of it I received were not very accurate. So far I haven’t found anything salvageable.
