I had a blast racing against Chris (trail toy). He had some shock issues early on and we got a clean pass in the desert, then I had some motor issues and he caught back up right before Resolution and Back Door. We both left Main Pit right beside each other... literally! I nearly bumped him in the side entering the course.
We decided to just race along with him for the next 35 miles of desert and rocks. Between all of the micro issues we were both fighting through, our pace was essentially the same. It was a ton of fun watching how he would take a line and I would see it a different way. He’s incredibly fast, and definitely talented.
And yes, electrical took us out. We were on Wrecking Ball when the alternator quit, then ran on the battery through Jack North until it died completely.
We ended up there for 9 hours just spotting and winching guys up that spot. Loooong day.
