The obligatory snow thread

got beeter than 3 inches yesterday...then an inch or so this mornin and now it has turned to sleet and freezing rain.

Freezing rain and sleet now, time for the Redneck dawg sleds.

Coming down hard now, accumulating fast... sticking too. Already cut a donut in the big jeep. Might have to take it out tonight instead of the little wrangler.

Room mate drives an integra. He has called me 3x already saying not to leave til he gets here. Doesnt wanna be stuck at home haha

Around the triangle the snow is nice and dry. If you act now you can easily sweep it off decks, autos, steps, sidewalks, etc. I've been sweeping a path on the deck and stairs about every hour so my old dogs can get in and out to pee w/o tracking alot of snow in the house. A blower would probly work well too. It will be a PITA to clear this stuff once the sleet/Ice covers it tonight as predicted.

People starting running out of the building here at work about 1pm as if it was on fire. Bunch of pussies.

Best part is SwamperXJ borrowed all my straps for a crazy recovery a while back and has yet to bring them back... Also the winch is torn apart. So... I can't help people :p

I had 10 inches of snow at my place. Pretty rare to see that much this close to the coast!

Friend is stuck in traffic on 68. Traffic is at a stand still. Apparently people can't get up the hill.

Scanner update in Sanford....Sanford PD is going old school -- they're parking their newfangled cruisers and doubling up the the old crown vics that they still have so they can get around. They are parked and only rolling out for accident's with injuries, etc. Radio traffic has actually slowed down a lot in the past hour or so...I guess people have mostly gotten to wherever they were headed.

I'm full of Sweet Josie and happy.

Almost nobody can get up a slippery hill in the snow going 10 mph or less, peeps that can't drive in the snow and have bald ass tires should stay off the roads. WRAL has been live since noon showing video of intersections and roads around the triangle and there are alot of idiot snowdrivers on every camera.

4-5" in Albemarle. It stopped snowing and started sleeting a few hours ago. Starting to get pretty slick. I had to run to my shop to light the fire so the toilet won't freeze again. It sucked driving back home as my windshield keep icing over and I had to stop every mile or so to scrape it off. Did throw down a donut or 2 in the TSC parking lot on a window clearing stop. It was freezing before the wipers could clear it off.

Drinking my last Shotgun Betty right now. Should have made a beer run to get more.

just shoveled about 5 inches off my concrete in front of the garage in Efland. A half inch on the side I started by the time I got done.

Yesterday had about 1", but by 5pm, most of it had melted. Snow started up today at 9am, peaked around 4, & has quite now, at 7pm. I just measured 3" in my Mt.Holly yard. I'd say 1/2 of it is ice. Two days in a row now, on Hwy 273, in Mt.Holly, I've spotted a black Cherokee. He has no left front fender, an exhaust stack running up the right side at the back door [wht up wth that?] & the tailgate is tied down with a 1" ratchet strap!
Anybody know him? Is he on here?

6 inches in Raeford from yesterday and today. Now the ice on top of that.

It works better if you leave it be until after the ice. The ice is going to fall regardless. But its easier to clean up when it's got a nice dry powder under it.
