This sounds bad, but...

If your free Sunday we can go to Richlands if you want? Havent been in a while

If a Stock Blazer can make it through, I suppose your Stock F150 Can :D

How much would something like that cost? And I take it that you remove the stock bumper and put the replacement on...or can the bumper stay?

It depends on how you want to make it. If you help and get some knowledge, it can be done very cheaply. If you are looking to drop the truck off and pick it up done, it will be more. The stock bumper could stay, but I think I would start from scratch.
I will be baching it this weekend if you want to Pm me your number. I am going to be doing some cage work on mine and you could stop by.
Like I said before though, you can have a blast with a stock vehicle and upgrade when you see what you need.

If I Ever get some time, I'll come and visit. I mow yards almost every weekend...and I have a 2-1/2 yr old son...so I'm always swamped...

I'm starting to get items for a trail ride. I got my Fire extinguisher last night...

I still need a tow rope...
Everyone says I need one without hooks...

Can I ask...Why not a chain?
One of those heavy ones?

I understand why no hook...

If a chain breaks, the ends will recoil just like the metal hooks on a tow strap (you seem to understand why that's a no-no)... I've seen a broken chain take out the ENTIRE backside (tailgate, glass, fiberglass top) of Blazer...

IOW, chains have their place in the recovery gear arsenal, just not for pulling/snatching/unsticking rigs (outside of use with a Hi-Lift)

Ride down from Wally world and check out Northern tool and tractor supply. Both sell nice straps.
The one at walmart will probably be fine.
If you want a really nice one, check with Jon at Xtreme Machines. He sells them.

I have a 3 year old, so I know what you mean about time. i am also renovating my house, keeping my pool up, rebuilding a boat, and finishing my Jeep.

SERIOUSLY, HOW MUCH AM I LOOKING AT SPENDING ON STEEL TO MAKE A BUMPER THAT WILL HOLD A WINCH?

NOW THAT IT'S GETTING COOLER, GOING TO BROWN MOUNTAIN IS LOOKING BETTER AND BETTER. I JUST WANT TO BE CERTAIN THAT I WON'T SCREW UP AND GET STUCK AND NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT.

ALSO, I NEED TO GET A HELMET SO I CAN TAKE MY 1986 HONDA FOURTRAX125 AND CHECK OUT THE ATV TRAILS.

Andy, what's up man? I've been busy with school, work and just bought an engine for my Prelude.

I've been to Richlands and it's a lot of fun. If you can go with someone that knows the road so you stay on the correct areas. Private land owners up there are a bit unhappy with it's popularity!

Also, never wheel alone! You never know what could happen or when another vehicle is needed over a winch. And if you ever get a chance to get out to Uwharrie GO!! That place is a blast! About a 2hr. ride from HKY, but well worth a day trip.

Once you get out there, you'll be suprized what a stock vehicle will do. It always made me feel good to do things with my mostly stock TJ that lifted trucks would struggle with. Momentum and common sense will get you through most anything.

Ryan

PM me if you want to get together sometime and we can see what it would take for the bumper. There is a salvage yard in Hickory for the steel.
I may be up for a Brown or Richlands run soon. I know both places well and have all the recovery equipment we would need on my rig.
Let me know...
Chris
