ticket for being lifted

I'm going to go ahead and call attention whore shenanigans.

LOL +1

Let's see if we can get a thousand views on this beech.

Ad Impressions FTW!

You can lift a truck more than 6" and still be under the headlight law. I think the headlight law states that your driving lights can not be higher than 54". Mine were almost 60.

That doesn't matter though. I was just telling what happened when I recieved the same ticket. And yes you probably did something to provoke him. You drive a vehicle that draws attention to you, what do you expect. You like the attention so deal with what comes with it.

Your liberty is going to be registered as either a SUV or a WGN(wagon), neither of which is a truck. If it is raised more than 6" you broke the law.
Blah blah blah...you are in SC like me.
None of this applies to you.
SC has a totally different law and it is a little bit trickier to beat....it is irrelevant here so I wont post it, only I carry a copy in my k5 anytime its on the street and it has farm tags.

Been pulled 3 times never given a ticket

^lol...GEEZ. You really can't fix stupid.

I call BS :flipoff2:

I doubt that thing has seen much more than the inside of a shed or 1/4 mile of the trails at The Flats in the last 4 years  :flipoff2:

there was an article in petersons off road adventure about this stuff it kind of out lines lift laws in the southern states..

this is where i read it.

You fail at reading comprehension.
Since his vehicle is either constructed on a truck frame (honeslty I dont know if Libergays have a frame or not, and dont care enough to search) and has a TC, it is not subject to that ENTIRE SECTION...
the first part of the law says you shall not modify cars and makes it illegal to modify them, the part you quoted maks it illegal to operate them on oads or other public areas. Trucks are still excluded.

no, what I said was he need written autorization from the comish. it's all fine and dandy that you point out that statute but I've yet to see the rules for inches of lift. under the one you pointed out I could lift my truck to the moon and it be legal. there has to be a limit. also, the headlights have been brought into play as well. what rule superceeds the next?

And you were wrong.

Here's the entire NC Motor Vehicle code: http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/gascripts/statutes/StatutesTOC.pl?Chapter=0020

Let me know when you find a maximum lift law or a headlight law.

.... going for 2k views now. :flipoff2:

what are you doing? playing "the repeater"? that was my question. I'll go see if I can find the headlight one. I saw it on Friday when I was keeping up.

edit: found what I was looking for. GS 20-131:

(b) Headlamps shall be deemed to comply with the foregoing provisions prohibiting glaring and dazzling lights if none of the main bright portion of the headlamp beams rises above a horizontal plane passing through the lamp centers parallel to the level road upon which the loaded vehicle stands, and in no case higher than 42 inches, 75 feet ahead of the vehicle.

now true, it doesn't say how high but it does say how how the beam can't be plus it must have the ability to see 200 ft down the road. without having the measurements of individual vehicles one must assume that at some point the higher you go the less likely you'll be able to meet those requirements thus there must be a lift cut off they feel is appropriate. now I'm sure someone will come back with "show me in the regs" but I don't have the time to pour through them all plus common sense must kick in at some point.

That really doesn't say that it's the max height of the light though. It says, to me, that the main beam of the light has to be lower than 42" at 75' down the road. Lift it 100" and point it straight down and it complies. What it does tell me though is the main bright portion of the light beam cannot shine above the center of the bulb. BTW, I just went through the entire chapter 20 and this is the only mention of headlights. What's really scary is the section on steering. All it says is that it has to work and be safe.

Lmao. Y'all got to remember that the officer didn't measure anything on my car I'm not so sure that the suspension is 6 over stock. But he did. I'm pretty sure its only 8 over

I actually own a 2003 liberty trail capable vehicle and have seen several liberty SAS conversions. If you were able to get a Dana 30 under that front end with less than 8" of lift I would certainly like to know how. Every conversion I have seen has required 8" to 10"+ of lift to fit even a Dana 30. Did you do the conversion or is this James's out of Wilmington (ohvkj)? Cause I'm pretty sure his was 8+". I would make sure before I walked into court. Even then, I agree with the guys who are saying that the law is written to exempt off road vehicles. I just think you should fight it on the right basis and completely informed. I have about 4" of lift on mine if you want me to measure from the top of the rear axle to something on the body. That will tell how much lift you have. Or I can tell you what stock is from axle hub center to the bottom lip of the flare.

I saw your heep at the CC Fair the other day. I was driving the new kubota in the back parking lot. Definately something you dont see every day. Even though its a Jeep, I like it.

HERE IS WHERE THE LIFT LAW NEEDS TO APPLY!!

The law is inforced on that.. I've seen it several times. Then the guy said what about all the jacked up trucks the cop said they don't apply. He said its just cause I'm black..

"Then the guy said what about all the jacked up trucks the cop said they don't apply."

so where's the confusion?

AWS

Present.....

What's it to ya', Ron?

I was just re-affirming my belief now that this is Attention Whore Shennanigans....1st the poster has no idea the law, now he actually knows the law and heard the cop define it to someone...

hah, yeah, i knew that wasnt actually meant for me, but i wasnt sure what AWS was an acronym for..... it was appropriate though.

What is a hyrbid?
