I know this is early.
It gives folks time to plan their calenders and pass the word.
Thanks in advance for reading, more details as time get's nearer.
Toys for Rocks Callantee OHV toy run August 9th 2008.
On August 9th 2008 Team Turtle will host the 2nd annual toys for rocks toy run to benefit the children of Johnson County Tennessee.
Last years run was a huge success. Due to the generosity of members of the NCKRAWLERS, AORC and local wheelers we collected several hundred dollars worth of toys that were distributed along with shoes, coats and gloves to children that needed them.
This year we look forward to bringing even more smiles to the faces of children with your help.
We are doing this a lot earlier in the year, to allow us (Team Turtle and the Johnson Co. community center) to coordinate together with local support to turn the community center into a "one stop shop".
This will allow the children to be able to come by and pick out a pair of shoes, a coat, gloves and toys at one time.
In years past this would involve several dates in October and November to accomplish this.
The way this "giving" works to ensure the children are able to keep everything is like this.
After the children pick what they want, the tags are cut out of the shoes and the coats, to ensure they cannot be returned.
The toys are opened at the center and the boxes, tags etc. are thrown away and the kids leave with the toys in a shopping bag. This didn't seem to bother the children, since the wrapping just "got in the way" of the toys.
Ok enough of the details.
I coordinated with Paul Brown, the owner of Callantee OHV Park, to have Saturday the 9th of August 2008 be a day where you can bring a toy and exchange it for a day of playing in the rocks with your friends, both old and new.
That's correct your trail pass for the day will be free if you bring a new unwrapped toy and enjoy the trails, and mountains that Johnson Co. has to offer.
This is his way of thanking everyone that comes out here to ride, to give something back to the community and hopefully to get new folks out here to enjoy the park also.
The park offers something for everyone.
Stock vehicles can enjoy a leisure drive to enjoy the scenery, mild rigs can enjoy the challenges of several trails and the more hardcore rigs can just as easily enjoy breaking there junk as their friends edge them on.
So everyone come out and have fun with friends and family and most importantly bring a smile to a young face this coming Christmas.
There will be more details etc, posted later.
I have already coordinated with Ronnie (he runs the office) and he is looking forward to this also, we have the cabin rented, to run this out of as well as have a place to store the toys during the weekend.
I know a lot of you run the trails on the weekends as we do.
I will coordinate stock and 33-35" run.
If anyone wants to help with being a trail leader please PM me.
I would like to offer maybe a top of the world run or something for the bigger folks
As well as an Armor all, pull cable run.
Thank you for your support
