Toy run Callantee 8-9-8

Is anyone heading up Saturday morning? I cant exactly remember how to get there and would like to follow someone. I live in Boone now so meeting up with someone would be pretty simple...

My jeep can follow on the bypasses, but not much more than that, Im just coming to watch the carnage

EDIT** If anyone wants to head up Friday but doesnt want to camp, let me know. Ive got a couch and a floor here...
I'm leaving Sat morning.

Well if you want to meet up somewhere in or around boone, let me know. Theres a gas station down 421 going towards TN, thats probably as good a place as any without having to drive through town if your towing a rig. Most people take the 105 Bypass to avoid driving through downtown, and the gas station is after that.

I always run down King Street. :flipoff2:

I may be heading up from GF on Saturday morning. I would be glad to meet up with ya in Boone to caravan from there.

Cool, be looking for you. Where we headed first?

Will wait and see how many are on the Big Wheel run, IF too many we will split up to speed things up somewhat. Just be ready to have some fun!
I plan to run TOW, Towers, Welder, Easy Out, stop by the hill climbs for those who wanna try, then over to Amoral, and pull cable. Not necessarily in that order

The way to see all of the trails/obstacles and do it in one day would be to take the Red trail up to TOW and The Tower, continue on the Yellow trail past The Tower which comes out on the Green trail right at the Welder entrance. Run Welder to the top and take the Blue trail back to the bottom at the sawmill, then over to Armour All/Little Tellico/Pull Cable. If you still had time/gas/energy you could take the Skyline trail back toward camp. Makes for one huge loop which hits most of the available trails and all of the points of interest. Just one way to do it :)

Is the Yellow trail you have marked back open?

We were told that side was closed!

Well let me know whats going on.

828-310-4564. That goes for anyone else looking to meet up in Boone on Saturday morning, or in need of a place to stay Friday night that isnt a campground. My name is Andrew.

I just suggested the bypass because the only other time ive gone to Callantee, Tim wanted to take it (Firetoy...but with a formerly 53" tire toting Toyota...I would too..). I didn't know if that was the norm for heading up that way. But by all means, lets take King!

We'll be through boone either late friday evening.... OR early saturday morning.. and oh yeah we always tow straight through town... I'll let you know later in the week if it'll be Friday night or Saturday.

? Not sure what you mean. I know we had been asked to stay off of the stuff to the far left, the area with points 2,3, etc, because of logging issues. Actually the Red Tail that goes through there is quite a mess from the logging, came through there in Feb when I was doing some scouting, but I've run the Red/Yellow from camp to Welder everytime I've been there lately. Dosen't appear to be any active logging going on up that route, at least as late as June. As of my last scouting ride the logging was going on in the 2,3 points area and in the 21, 25 area. If anyone know different I'd appreciate the heads up.

This is a modified version of the map you have that I have been workin on. I was told that the Yellow trail I have marked with 'X's was closed because of too many carnage/injuries? Probably ATV's? Not sure I remember why, though.

Last time we were up there, the left side was all open

The section of Yellow Trail between the Green Trail and the red dot that you do not have x'ed out is the section that is so steep, washed out and fairly unsafe. The junction of it and the Green Trail has trees felled across it just past that junction. The part that you have marked with x'es between the Green Trail and the red dot is not hard at all, is safe and is marked with a dayglo number 4. It comes out on Green Trail about 50 yards west of the Welder entrance.

Good info,We'll need to coordinate so the big guys don't run over the smaller folks:flipoff2:
The smaller tire guys are starting with welder and then run a trail that's not on the map:confused: down by entrance to armorall( around the corner to the right) it has a sharp right hand corner downhill and then climbs up and around (between skyline and 19) it connects to skyline and then we'll stop for lunch on skyline probably. Then we'll run down the dark green trail and then we'll(my wife and I) will run back to camp and start cooking.
I'll then let someone else run the smaller guys around maybe let them site see(if they want) at armorall and pull cable etc.

This ride seems to be coming together nicely!
I am sooo looking forward to this. It's just been too long since I have been in the woods wheelin!

Hey Chip can I still ride with you even though I have little bitty 35's :bounce2: Can I , Can I .I enjoy watching yall tear up yall's stuff on the big crap. I am going to run more trails this time since I've gotten a little more experience behind the wheel and understand the limits of my rig. Plus I want to try out my new R&P in the front to see if it will hold. Can't Wait!!

I'll be there with 4xfever riding navigator. I guess we plan to run the big wheel crowd too- 42s...

We should be there by 9am unless ya'll plan to leave earlier.
