Toy run Callantee 8-9-8

Hey Chip can I still ride with you even though I have little bitty 35's :bounce2: Can I , Can I .I enjoy watching yall tear up yall's stuff on the big crap. I am going to run more trails this time since I've gotten a little more experience behind the wheel and understand the limits of my rig. Plus I want to try out my new R&P in the front to see if it will hold. Can't Wait!!

Sure, all the hard stuff has by-passes if you don't wanna tackle it.

Hey chip, can I ride with you guys...in case you all need a wheel chock!

Right, you might be pulling me out of the woods ya never know

Ohhh...and BTW..I like this route you have laid out!

I know how to pick a co-trail leader!

We will have a "registration" canopy setup behind the normal
pay building.
I will have a "guest book" there.I would like everyone to sign it,not full names or anything just maybe screen name and who your with. This will be for us to thankyou with and so we have an idea on a number of folks for some food. There will be a check box for the a BBQ plate Saturday night.
We have pickedup a few sponsors that are helping with the cost of food etc, they are:
HUX-LIPFORD and HENSON funeral homes of Mountain City
Mountain City ROTARY CLUB #5740
Thankyou all in advance:beer:

Maiden voyage of his heep didn't go as expected. He has some major rear spring wrap issues (as in bent leafs) and didn't get his traction bar built. I tried to push him to get it back together this past weekend, but evidently he had better things to do. He is focused on the Fall Crawl in Harlan, but I needed someone to pull cable.

So what time is everything set to begin?

I'll be coming up in my TJ, and would probably prefer to run the basically stock group. Alot of the harder stuff I cant do quite yet.

I'll be leaving my house in Newton (Hickory area) about 6 am. I should be there around 8:30 9:00. or should I be there earlier?

"registration"

will be from whatever time we get out of bed:lol:.nah about
8am-10am most of the folks wanna be out of the campground by 10:15 or so..........ya'll know how that works.

The community center ladies will be at the canopy's til 11 am or so. Ronnie will be there as always,so even if you show up late it is still a free ride whenever you show up all day, ronnie will accept toys for us also in the office.

So if your running late you can still ride.

Walk the dog?? A truck with 60s and 42s and all you 'tried' was welder!! I wouldn't call that walk the dog...

As for the fajitas and coronas- I did that after getting my truck ready for next weekend- I'm talented like that! No excuses- I am out of town all week too... :fuck-you:

For those of you who would like to make this trip a little easier on the pocket, you might want to run through Hickory Hwy 321 to Boone. The gas house (Murphy USA) in Granite Falls has (or had on Monday) gas for $3.44 a gallon.

And diesel for 4.39 yesterday. 20 cents more just down the road in Hickory. But, of course it's usually packed and you'll idle away a good bit of those savings. Also, the Hess just up the road a bit (next to Pizza Hut in GF) has been openly competing with the Murphy Oil and they usually have about the same gas prices, but no diesel.

I think you guys just changed my route.
i was going to take 77N to 421 thru wilksboro.
seems about 13 miles longer than 73/27 - 321 but not as much uphill to climb I don't think.
it is cheap... really cheap in granite falls and hickory.
sheesh!
check out AAAmaps.com for real time gas prices.
gas right now in Granite Falls is $3.45.
but should we be cheering for 3 and half gas? no, not until it gets back down to the good ol' days of a buck twenty six.

Thats the new one, right down the road from my house, and near the new walmart. There is also a Hess Station across from Fair Value in Granite that regularly has decent prices....

FWIW the 421 route does have a killer pull between N Wilkesboro and Boone. It's a five mile pull that's worse than the Black Mountain pull on I40, usually sucks about a 1/4 tank on my rig :) I have run the 321 pull but it's been awhile, don't remember exactly how they compare but I know it isn't as bad as 421!

I am heading up early a.m., Friday to do some work on the TOW/Tower section. There is one tree that needs to be taken care of so the wider rigs can make it to the TOW exit. If anyone wants to help out I'll be leaving the camp between 10 and 11 Friday morning to work.

We'll be up Friday evening around 9:00.... anyone up for a Night Run? They're allowed arent they?

Also, we plan to hit the trails fairly early (8:30-9) ish.... So, can I turn in my toy that early? OR do I just do it when I get back to the campground?

im gonna try to get there around 7 fri evening... im down for a night run but this will be my first trip to cal so i hope you know your way around. ive still got to figure out how to get there. ill be coming up 321 thru boone.

we are getting ready to start hauling crap to the cabin,in a few hours.

Everyone have a safe trip.

I know my way around enough... as for getting there...

1. Stay staright on 321 until it dead ends into 421 (just past ASU)..

2. Take a Left on 421 (King Street) and go through town

3. Stay on 421 all the way until you get into Mountain City, TN

4. Take a Right onto Church St (first light just past a gas station/Burger King)

5. bear/stay left to stay on church street

6. few miles take a Right onto Furnace Creek (theres a sign at the road)...

You're there...

sounds good! i guess there's a big common area or something once i get there where every one will be?
