Truck show (10/31)

Now you know why a lot of folks bypass this event.

If I would have simply said I didnt have a good time, I would have been doing this community an injustice as to the travesty some of us were exposed to this weekend. So why not share in an all around it crapped category!

I feel ya. This was the worst time ive ever had at an event of any kind that involved trucks..The pull took forever to even start...Pad was soaked (they make tarps people) Me and my buddies truck got 2nd place to a ifs s10 and a ifs blazer on 33's...This place has no idea what is on a truck. As long as you have a big ole galloway banner on the back youll get 1st.
Also after waiting around and CHASING the owner around trying to buy some tires we got blew off to many tires and just left.
Haha the one time we finally got to talk to somebody there about trading in our tires we were offered a $1500 trade in value on our 49's (85% tread) and the 20" wheels they were on....LMAO then they were 200.00 over the internet price on some 44 boggers.
So to sum it up. I will never go to a galloways event, buy from galloways or be at a event with any galloways support.
What a joke. :flipoff2:

hey ill give you 1600 for those iroks lol:fuck-you:

Well i guess im glad i stayed home..... sucks yall (chromerunner, gmandjeep)got beat by a a couple ifs trucks prob. only a few bolt-on's when the s-10 and big ass cherokee are far from stock.............. happened to me a few times made me so damn mad i wanted to get on the mic. and call BULLSHIT!! been going to galoway's show for over 17 years hate to see things going down hill.. hope they think hard about how they can win us all back over... helpem ricky...

Once again I have to choose my words carefully since I am tied in here, and also first and foremost represent my business 4x4cross Racing . . .

-------------------------------

... helpem ricky...

I have tried, they have been doing things X way for X many years and don't really want anything to change. Since my paycheck, a decent amount of my events sponsorship, and a Key to the Facility (yea I'm there working on 4x4cross Stuff well beyond 2 am like every other night) all comes from them, I have a hard time saying or doing anything that's not supportive of them.

Beyond the fact that I owe Darrel Galloway way more than I could ever repay him, he is a very generous person that really lives his life looking out for other people than himself all the time, I really don't know anybody else that does as much as he does for others.

~

Changing tempo - I will say that At the Truck Shows/Pulls I am merely a Vendor/Contracted Announcer, I am not involved in any decision making processes that lead to or occur during the Events, I am merely there to announce the grudge pull, actually have no part of the Show at all just the Pull announcing.

~

Now - further counter point to this discussion - a lot of what certain people are complaining about I could comeback with some pretty decently founded arguments to show just how ignorant some of the statements that certain persons above may or may not have posted really are.

~

I am not going to thou, as I stated above I am involved with way too many businesses beyond my own and Galloways to be confronting anyone online.

~

And on a personal opinion note I have been around long enough to know trying to reasonably have a point/counter point argument on an online forum is a waste of time.

--------------------------------

And now back to sum up the original issue at hand - all I can say is during the planning execution of a Galloways show 4x4cross Racing is nothing but an outside Vendor/Announcer brought in to merely announce the Grudge Pull portion of the event, thats it.

However speaking from the Galloways side of things I can dismiss a lot of the above slander with several very simple counter points

But I am not going to due to my affiliations with many businesses that do not want there name shed in a bad light.

I do however continue to support Galloways 4WD Center as well as I do any of my other Sponsors. As well as other than the few here, everyone else seems to have had a good time at the Event. Had a lot of positive comments face to face as well as a lot of positive response on Facebook/Myspace/Twitter - and no one can argue the legitimacy of an online resource that Facebook/myspace/twitter provides to a business in todays current market anymore.

Eric - Just Miles in his Silver Dodge and that Big XXXL Super burb that was at the Last Uwharrie Pull were in Unlimited, Miles won.

Hey Cory(chromerunner) I also thought that was CRAZY that you guys didnt get anything! The first year I took my yota there (a few years ago) I got 2nd to that same S-10(black w/ orange graphics) that is always there and he didnt even have a front drive shaft installed!Funny thing is on the score sheet it always states how your suppose to have driveshafts installed and functional 4wheel drive.Even better the only thing he beat me on was drivetrain!lol!Im running a RARE turbo yota tranny w/ 4.7 t-case, air lockers, same gears in both hog heads(unlike the non workin s-10) and he wasnt even locked, you know its just crazy!

Anyways I hauled the yota down there to pull it but nothing in my class to pull, plus when you try to talk to darrell or chris about anything there always too busy!As far as trying to get a deal on tires HAHA that will NEVER happen.I have tried with 4 different sets I have had and they dont want to give you nothing for yours and if you do trade ol lester jacks there prices up!

I love a good truck show and pull but every time I go it seems like it gets even worse!I mean dang 35 bucks to show a truck and then you even have to pay to get in!!!Anyways I got 2nd with my dodge and I have more money in the yota!I hate to say it but I wont waste my time or money again.

...I have tried, they have been doing things X way for X many years and don't really want anything to change...

I didn't go so i have no input on how the event went, but my question is this. Do the people that DO make these decisions and rules listen to this stuff? Are they on this forum or others? It seems to me that this is the biggest 4x4 forum in NC and if 90% of the people, that went from here, did not have a good time then wouldn't it make sense to change some things? I bad things before about galloways events and you might think if they want to make it a profitable truck pull/show they would change something. And for the price i could go to uhwarrie or callalentee for a day and see/do much more fun things. Just my.02

Like I said I have no involment in the show/judging of the trucks so can't say anything there . . .
Big Ben I had no idea you were there man, you shoulda pulled the yota in the class with the two jeeps, If Id'a known you were there I'da def got you in on it no prob

So you were the guy that always does the annoucing for the pulls?Well I had the yota up there and when i couldnt talk to anyone I just said screw it and entered it in the show(since I hauled it up there anyway).Like i said earlier my yota is a rock crawler that has way more work and time in it than a stock tacoma shined up with some 33's on it but I guess whoever the judges are couldnt tell what a custom suspension was compared to a ifs lift.gay

HAHA,Lester and those guys are making there money so why change things?Im sure thats how they see it.

My take is simple...more and more trail riders and rock crawlers are going to the galloways events. These events are Truck shows and Grudge pulling, and the Galloways' back grounds are mud racing... not trail riding and rockcrawling.

They have a long history of what they do.
They dont HAVE to change anything about their events. They dont NEED to cater to anyone else.

Folks will bring their show rigs and show em'.
Folks will bring there mud trucks and pullers and pull em'.

Sure, it would probably be a profitable decision for them to try and cater to the rockcrawlers a lot more, but they seem to shy away from it.

I guess my point is...Dont go to someone elses game and complain about how they are playing.
This is not meant to bash anyone involved in this thread. I'm just saying....they aint changing, and it is what it is.

no doubt dylan i do understand, well put.You gonna be at uwharrie this weekend?

Big Ben I had no idea you were there man, you shoulda pulled the yota in the class with the two jeeps, If Id'a known you were there I'da def got you in on it no prob

.. here is a perfect example of how NOT to run an event:

you said: "If Id'a known you were there I'da def got you in on it no prob"

that should not be the case at any event.. everyone that wants to enter a event should be handled the same..

you also said: "I am merely a Vendor/Contracted Announcer"

So then you should not even have any pull to get people into certain areas of the event.

I suggest you take everything you hear from folks about this event and make sure it does not happen at your 4x4cross events at the stables.

This sounds like a statement a big corporate sponsor would put out....i.e. something politically correct.

I look at it this way....you choose to speak as someone whose primary concern is to represent your employer, someone whose 1st priority is to make money. That's not to say they don't care about 4x4's, it's just not #1.

Or you could have chosen to speak first as an offroad enthusiast and expressed more concern about what people are saying here. Yes you might possibly risked losing sponsors, your job at Galloways or whatever.

I'm not trying to be a dick, that's just how I see that your priorities lie.

I've been going down there since '79. I've bought/swapped/traded with them alot, entered plenty shows when my jeep was somewhat nice in the late eighties, never placed higher than 3rd. If you're that concerned about how you placed ask for the score sheet, that's how they used to do it. It's "show" vehicles, I'm sure everyone one who enters with an open diff puts detroit or something, they used to look at total package engine/suspension/tires/paint/equipment...I'm guessing they still do, not a judge, don't know. Ask for the sheet and work on your weakness. The "show" stuff is subjective anyway, I'd finish last at one and place first at the next with the same Jeeps in attendance.
Anyway,
If you're going to trade, do it during the week, not in the middle of a show, you're not going to get his undivided attention.
He's outlived dozens and dozens of other off road shops around here - go figure?
He sponser's other things (I don't know to what level).
He had a record holding mudder for many years.

Ricky, it's your job, I understand.

Personally didn't like the rule against Eric (bottomland4x4), I figured those other guys would buy slicks and be ready for him, but I guess someone complained and it is "Galloways" show not "Scott's" show.

I scored a 2 out of 5 on saftey....

Under saftey on the score sheet it says

"Fire ex, first aid kit, Roll cage"

I had a fire ex,First aid kit, and a FULL Exo cage...HAHA

I dont care what i place as i just go to the show to try and support a event that is about lifted trucks and to hang out with people that i know. I just hate the BS that always goes along with it...and thats why they have lost my support.

Well, I'd ask Ricky who does the scoring, they might need one of those edumucations. Or, maybe they could pm you their reasoning. If I owned and worked for a shop like that I'd be reading this board and postings. I consider this site the ONLY local NC/SC wheeling site.

I wasn't there, had to work. But if they really charged for parking that's just wrong if you're charged an admittance fee, that ain't downtown Charlotte.
