Uwharrie 4x4cross (post-meeting) - May 9-11

...ok, just to throw this out there as practical suggestions for the logjam that we shall call "Kodak area"

This is the place most of us will logically want to watch the race, will prob have 'multiple' lines for the various classes and best chance for rollover action etc.

So with that in mind - As you are speaking with the Rangers, see if you can make an arrangement for porta potties (multiple) to be brought in for the event to that area?

Big trash cans/bags would also be a good idea, not that any of US would dare put trash on the ground but with this kind of draw...

I assume there will be 'times' where we can drive in and park to watch there at kodak (and maybe times we need to NOT be on the trail during the race) so this limits the bathroom breaks possibilities / the folks that go there are prob there for the whole day!?

If not....someone with a tent and portapotty of their own, charging admission..might make a "mint" heh... Not to mention hotdog vendor, etc!

For years I have thought they should build a primitive bathroom there, "bring your own paper" kind and 'stadium seating' anyway for the weekend crowds.

Other than that...and good luck to the competitors, I am looking fwd to it! My rig would be stock B due to my factory e-lockers so I will enjoy and watch instead, should be fun!

There will be port-a-potties and trashcans at kodak for sure. I think that driving up to the Rocky Mtn Loop trail via other trails and will be perfectly acceptable at any time. Actually driving on RML will be restricted once the race begins (and possibly a short time before).

Smiley.. you'll want to lock out those :gay: 3/4 eliptic springs anyway, then you'll be in a lower class. In something like this (no RTI ramp), you want the suspension to work, not flop around like some slinky on crack.

My question: Does he care what classes people sign up in? I know he has a 160 rig limit but does he expect to stop taking applications from a given class if that class already makes up a big part of the field?
The reason I ask is that I signed up before they changed the class requirements and I'm pretty sure I could run in C if I wanted to. I want to know if I have to decide now before C fills up if if I can change a month before the event.
Then again, it would be fun to run unlimited and take Greg's $10k. :flipoff2:

If your in a lower class rig and want to sign up to race in a higher class go for it you just cant go the other way around.

Not sure if its set 40 rigs in each class I think its just more of getting the 160 mark regardless of class.

So when I try to register, I am being charged sales tax. This doesn't make sense to me. Is this right?

I wouldn't think sales tax would be applied as "services" do not require sales tax. the rules for sales tax are somewhat complex. We deal with it at work all the time. The only way labor can be taxed is if it is used to provide a finished product, i.e., 140 labor hours to build a conveyor, then the labor (or better yet, conveyor) is taxed, not just each part. The entire item is taxed as a whole, with labor included.

In the rock race situation, there would not be any final product, only a service, so I would think sales tax would not be needed.

My thoughts too, which is why I question it. Hoping the powers that be will chime in here with a better solution than Paypal.

regarding the taxes
Maybe its a paypal thing..I dont know for sure, I didnt even think about it.Thats on the Main men in charge, not us, so I have no real clue.

So who should I contact?

Hey yall....PIT BULL tires have signed on as an ''off-site vendor.
They probably wont be there,BUT..they are donating 3 sets of tires.

I know that this has been beat to death, like a red headed step-child, but I have a Samurai which did not come factory sprung over. It is sprung over with YJ springs and missing links (revolvers for the Jeep guys ;)) at all four corners, sitting on 33's with t-case gears. What class would I fall into?

I'm thinking stock....tell you why. It has factory type suspension (leaves), it only has 33's, and from what I understand, there is no restriction on gearing. Am I right or wrong here?

Thanks, Bryan

How big payout we talking for the big class? I really dont care and have driven further for less but trying to decide if missing the birth of my second child is worth going racing for a weekend.

Website says $10,000, 1/2 $$$, 1/2 prizes.

I'd say it's a tossup:lol:

ok stock class is up to 33" of tire, there are no restrictions on lift height, if you wanna run 10" of lift it doesnt matter as long as you are not running larger than a 33" tire

Yes spring over is stock type, you didnt change anything other than where the perches were welded i dont see any difference in that over someone with spring under running 8" lift springs for the hiegth. . .

Assuming you don't have lockers, I would say Stock class also.

While on the subject of Samurai's.....many Samurai owners swap in the 1.6 engine from a Tracker/Sidekick. Does swapping in a 1.6 put them in the "C" class. That would bring the suck

yeah I'd stay home for that if I was you, leave this cash on the table....:flipoff2:

Well to resolve this issue,I'm going back to stock shackles for this event.
Here is my .02
On my vehicle it came with about 7" travel shocks factory, to use all that massive travel most folks put an add a leaf in and longer shackles this give about 4" of lift. This allows the rear springs to move enough to allow all 7" of travel in the shocks to be used.
I did not want the lift so I added a 1/2 upper spring and shorter shackles to allow my full 7" of travel while keeping the vehicle very low.
and they do not flop around at all,is this an advantage to be able to use all 7" of shock travel??
I guess it is:shaking:so that crap is now cut off,
so I assume that revolver shackles, missing links and anyother type of non stock shackle is out also??
I would think so.
Yes this could be real nighty gritty so.........lets just go out and have fun, plus the lower truck classes don't pay out enough to get so technical anyways.Lets have fun,and promote our sport.

No reason why you can't run revolvers/missing links in A class, it bolts up in the stock location doesnt it . . . .

IMO that falls under a question asked before about someone swaping a larger yet stock motor into a CJ . . . . i see no problem with it.
