What have you done to your rig today?

Ordered quite a few parts today to help fill this hole I created this weekend.

I changed the tires over to my super secret pizza cutting stickies. Then squeezed it's fat ass into the shop. Let the tear down begin!

Have you ever thought about putting your rig on a serious Detroit steel diet, and just doing tube on the frame with aluminum floor, firewall, and sides? You might be able to lose 500 lbs. That old truck sheet metal is thick and heavy.

I'm full circle at this point. Back in the day you built your truck/Jeep/whatever. I've seen the rail buggies turn into tube chassis turn into ultra light purpose built rigs. Now the old iron has the retro appeal. Tube chassis design is worlds better than it was but I think they're stale. Have I thought about it? Absolutely. Am I? Probably not. The frame is hanging in there but I can tell it's tired. I'll redo it again and go from there. I'm not sure it's worth going that far at this point. It used to hate my guts and now I think it's mildly fond of our shenanigans together. We're both just hanging in there to see what happens next.

He’s talked about finding another one and cut the sheet metal off and putting it on there to start denting it all up all over again

Started tearing down a 231 that's I'm gonna swap an sye from another case on too. Ive gotten the main split to open up but I can not get the tail cone to split. Yes I have all of the bolts out. Any tips? I'm afraid if I wail on it to much I might crack it.

Did you get both snap rings off the output shaft? They are both inside the housing, and the housing wont come off without taking both off.

Ask me what happens when you try to pry the output housing off with one of the snap rings still on the shaft........ ...

I didn't think there was any snap rings to remove before the tail housing will come off but I'll double check. I know there are some before I can take the back half off before the pump. I dont even know if tail housing is the right term. So I circled it

Edit, the part I am talking about starts around one minute in

That was exactly it took the two snap rings off and with one tap of a rubber mallet it came off. Got that case tore down and also got the second except for the front yoke nut isnt wanting to break loose. So I cant start swapping.

Been working on the Dakota. Its sat for a year after the wreck, just now getting around to it. 4 hours in, and we have the drivers side motor mount off....... I was expecting a 4 hour job in total to replace two motor mounts.

Pulled the steering column and started pulling the dash out. Just gotta swap the wiring/ecu/fuse panels to the new body. Once the engine is running again all I will have left is plumbing a fuel cell, redo the exhaust to clear the slave on the 435, plumb the clutch hydrolics, new brake booster, all new brake lines, new driveshafts, remove clayton tracbar, install barnes tracbar, and rebuild the rear axle. Then I can redo the seat mounts on my cage and finish up the boat sides. Shouldnt take long at all.

Installed these on to my SD 60.

<Insert Dr. Evil laughter>

Bout to see how easily I can break these under....... Powers.

*Beer for scale.

Well, I have a lug nut that is siezed/crossthreaded, thankfully it is about halfway on and I should be able to cut it and put another lug. Either big ratchet and a 4ft pipe or cutoff wheel...
