What have you done to your rig today?

I have been looking at the wipe-on clear vs spraying.

Is that a Snowden seat? I saved one just like that, someone was selling on IG.

The rear bumper from a K5? Mine still has the step bumper. Trying to decide between a rollpan or other bumper. Will likely go bumper since Im not planning to delete the front one.
Yes, it's a snowden seat. The rear bumper is not from a k5, it's for the truck. Sport bumper from AMD. My truck had the original HD factory step bumper when I got it.

Brought home my latest project. I've always wanted a square, and I wanted a K5 for the longest time but the price was right on this one.
I did some hauling for a buddy's brother and got this as payment, she's rough but since it's a bargain I can turn chicken shit to chicken salad.
1975 Chevy K10 Custom Deluxe, 350/TH400/NP203, Dana 44 front, 12-bolt rear. Going to strip it down since there's not a decent body panel and build it back up. I know where I can get most of the replacement body parts, but that's gonna wait until it's warm out.

Was this the k10 on Craigslist for $50k where the ad said “I know what I have no lowballs” ?

Honestly with lmc trucks all you really need is a title and about fitty
Dang shame some old Mopar pickups and Ram Chargers don't get the same support.

That's the appeal of it, has a clean title and a straight frame with a decent drive train. I'm gonna try and get some OEM sheet metal for it, already got my eye on a bed and a front clip; the cab will be a little tricky.

It's gonna get done up but won't be a "show truck" by any means but it'll be decent enough I'll be able to wash it and tire shine it and my wife won't be embarrassed to be seen in it.
It's gonna get some rock sliders, a winch, and some other offroad goodies since this will be a truck that'll be able to go to cruise ins and out in the woods and the mud of Uhwarrie.

Ford either. But it’s slowing getting better. Gm guys have had it made for years lol 😂
Mopar 4x4s and old Fords are sweet, but I'm a diehard Chevy guy. Wife wants an old Bronco though, so I'll make an exception for her.

The eagle has landed.

Oddly enough I checked my property values and they show up as negative 300K now. Strange.
Got it unloaded, but with no keys and it not running turning it around was an adventure; wound up hooking chains to it and dragging it around with the crew cab.

The red truck is down with a bad starter and I think a crappy alternator. I think it's jealous of the new rig but it's about to get washed down with a BUNCH of new parts.

Skidplates, a bunch of painting, dug out a bunch of really bad wiring, and then snatched off the old cage. The new one is ready to go on tomorrow. After that, install the glass windshield, side mirrors, rear view mirror, sound bar, front lights, rear lights, cargo light bar, rear chase lights, and seat heaters. Then everything will get wired up to a 12 gang switch panel :D

I'm so close to being done....now it's just some tweaking of the cage, make the lower mount for the rear bumper, mount lights, and wire everything up. Oh, and I guess I should put the headlights in too. They have turn signals. Fancy, right?

Not sure if I ever mentioned it, but a few of the guys I ride with had been hounding me about why I didn't go last weekend. Aside from wanting to get *everything* done to my satisfaction and not really wanting to be in WV after they literally JUST got flooded, I realized I didn't even want to go ride without a better cage. Something about barrel rolling a truck will have that effect on you!

I'll admit, I'm not wild about how the side bar makes the middle of the cage look like it has a peak. It's absolutely flat across the top. However, I only paid 500 bucks for a prebuilt cage....so I think I'll learn to be just fine with it. I may also cut that bar out and replace it, eventually.

@untchabl I seent you and raised. Your call. :D

I like the peak. Adds strength and head clearance.

Where'd you get the evolution sign on the door from monkey to grease monkey?

No idea. That's my buddy's shop. I don't have any kind of place to work indoors. 🥲

Strength, I could see. It's the same height as the rest of the cage though. Fellers like you and me aren't worried about the extra head clearance :D

Got the windshield, chase lights, and rear bumper brackets mounted. The rear bumper is nice and solid now. I also got the fire extinguisher bolted back on. I'm finally getting in the short rows, but unfortunately, that means I'm getting closer to having to do a bunch of wiring. My least favorite activity. At least I have a switch panel so everything can be run to a central location and controlled from one place without having 10+ rocker switches.

The clamp holes that came in the windshield wouldn't work. I drilled new ones, opened up the olds one, and put some amber LED lights in them. They may wind up being wired as turn signals. We'll see. It looks pretty slick though!

The chase lights have a red ring for running and brake, a white light that shines downward for a cargo light, the center is a white backup/work light, and the red ring will also strobe. I probably could have gotten a decent chase bar cheaper, but I think these look better.

I still need to snag some expanded metal to whip up a heat shield for the muffler. That exhaust gets pretty toasty. I reckon this little guy really throws out some heat!

Slowly making progress, hope to have the bed and all the scrap lifted off by this weekend. Need to haul off a bunch of crap before someone starts complaining.
Anyone interested in the drivetrain?
Since I'm toying with engine swaps and the fact this thing is going to be a slow project I'm gonna shuck the motor, trans, and t-case.

Allegedly ran when parked, starter broke off the ears on the motor. I can post more details in the proper channels if anyone's interested.

Bunch-O-Fun day with the rig.
1-put the batree charger on it last night
2-found out that yes, indeed, the, the does still fit into the ignition
3-STARTED IT UP!!! vroom vroom ( it's a Samurai ... vroom vroom in caps does NOT apply)
4-found out it will still move
5-removed the doors
6-took off down the road, rode around the big burg that is Walnut Cove
7- put gas in it
8- used some colorful language getting in and out about what half-crippled idiot lifted the darn thing!
9- hooked the electronics back up - I unhooked them way back when it just sat all the time ... because batree
10-cleaned the windshield .... how it gets so dirty sitting still under the carport baffles me
11- added 1/2 qt of oil just for fun

I actually hate the stupid thing! Every time I decide I'll never wheel again, I decide to sell it, then I'll get in and drive and remember all the fun and change my mind again!
I'll not wheel again, but if anyone wants this stupid thing it will take Bring-A-Trailer money to get it!

I bought it in 1987 .. it only had 2 miles on it before I test drove it. It had 32 miles on by the time I signed the papers.
On the dark side of 300,000 now, but sure how far, speedo cable been broke at least 10 years!

I for got to mention that I had a low tire….
So I started the engine and hit the OBA switch.
My OBA is a converted a/c pump …. It started squealing after a couple on minutes then seized up!
I went to check the oil cup and it’s gone …
I let it cool down the hit the switch again added a few drops of 10w-40 🤣. It seized again so once I had it turning I gave it a couple of good shots of WD-40 followed by a few generous drops of 10w-40 again!
Works great now!!!

Doing some more to the loaner. Went to replace the dry rotted antenna with a stubby. Should be 10 minutes, unscrew old, screw in new.

Nope. Someone replaced the OE antenna with one that isn’t screwed in? I gotta pull the assembly out to see what’s up now.
