What have you done to your rig today?

Well I finally got my first little welding project done. Can you guess what this booger welded POS is?

You got it, it's a quick release fire extinguisher mount. Just need to clean it up and add some paint and find a spot to mount it on the Jeep. Hopefully it'll hold together for a while lol.

I thought it was an Art project? Next time, use a Bigger welding Rod. :p

Here's some exercise Little John & I got yesterday. [I did have to maneuver around my rig] Duke Power's Tree butchers, Assplunder, has been working the neighborhood. I been needing a load of mulch to replenish an area. They promise free mulch, if you need it. So I asked them when they were within site of my hillside. Asked them a Second time when they wanted to set up in My yard. I also asked that while they had their bucket in the air, hacking My tree, would they Please wack off 2 broken limbs. Well yea, maybe, ok, this is what we do, & so-so. So, after 2 weeks, & no mulch, I saw them across the next intersection, & a Supervisor there. I stopped, Super rode back with me to my site, & I explained Where to dump, & if they didn't mind, make 2 piles, instead of one. Finally after that, about 5pm, I saw My load was dumped. NOT where I indicated, & in one pile, but By-Golly I got it! Little John spread about 3/4 of it, & I still had to finish it off with the Rake. Plus I couldn't get 30% of it Back up the hill, where I ask for it Not to be dumped! Two other pictures are earlier on, finishing touches on some new stone for the driveway.
Little John [316] is coming up at 28 yo, & Still as good as New. Made my own blade which I keep meaning to do-over;;;someday.

Art is my sister's realm of expertise. I just git'r'done lol. Yeah I figured it would make a large weld puddle if I set it to the machine recommended settings but I wanted to make sure it stuck together no matter how crooked my weld would be. Next time I'll either lower the wire speed or speed up my movements.

My sister is in town, I gave her Trailhawk the Redlyner Racing treatment for Christmas-

It's time you finally used that the handle.

Had some friends over to help work on my dad @moldman05 68 tempest.

We fixed most of the rust and knocked out several dents. Also used all metal and fiber cloth to fix the rust around the back window. We also fixed the rad support and fender supports.

In the middle of all that, we took a break and had some friends over to wheel on some private rocks.

Then we jumped right back on the tempest and replaced all the body mounts and reinstalled the back window and new 1/4 plywood package tray.

Pics and vids to follow.

There's a wheeling buddy of mine with a jku that wheeled and daily drive those exact tires for years. I was pretty impressed by how well they held up. Trail and street.

Put these weird shocks on the front...

New diff cover cover from Ruff Stuff and 9" pinion guard
Drilled and tapped the steering box I got from @spraypaintman.
Installed the surplus center ram and hoses.
@hurt4x4 made a pretty neat little skid plate for the ram. (no pic's of it finish welded.)
He also helped patch my frame up.
I also cut the shock mounts off the old dana 30 and put them on the 44.
Took apart my front leafs and made some new bastard packs (not pictured)
Also put that muffler back on from when the flats knocked it off...

Next is an antiwrap bar so I don't do this again...IMG_8195.JPG

I will try to get a better picture of it finished up. It has a support in the middle on the top side and two drain holes.
I can't take credit for the idea. I knew I wanted it protected but he designed it. I got to test it playing on some rocks in the middle of Daniel before it closed this year. works great.

Edit: @hurt4x4 sent me some pics. I think this belongs in the killer welds thread too.

Changed out my d30. Old one needed new bearings and adjustment.. and evidently a new ball joint.. not sure how that came loose, it was a Moog joint and was pressed in with the tool. now at least my Cherokee will again be worthy of the 4x4 label it sports.

I fixed the better looking half's zj at the beginning of the week, swapped rear axle and case so it too is 4wd finally, after owning it and tripping over the parts for about a year.

Took advantage of some warm days here and with the help of some friends got the engine tore down and broken exhaust manifold bolts removed from the head. Excited to get cleaning and painting!
