What have you done to your rig today?

Added a deep pan and transmission thermostat bypass while I was changing the transmission filters.

Driver side inner tie rod is on the agenda for tomorrow. I skimped out and bought cheap ones when I rebuilt my front end. Didn’t get a year and a half out of it. Putting moog back in its place. I knew better.
 
Don't be surprised if the Moog stuff lasts about as long. They're not what they used to be. Not even close. My go-to for the last several years has been MevoTech Supreme or TTX if they're available for the application.

Previous owner installed the fancy blacked out taillights.

I like the look though, but cant see squat backing up through the camera at night.

Now its like having headlights on the rear. Though I did end up wiring them through the taillights instead of trailer.

Nothing ever goes as planned. Old boot had a tear, new inner didn’t come with one. Called five parts stores with no luck. One said they had it, drove 20 minutes there for them not to have it. Amazon for the win. Should be here tomorrow, butttt it’s supposed to rain. A 10 minute job is now two days all from the simplest part of the job. It’s all good though. I’m gonna fish the rest of the day instead.

My daughter’s Nissan kept sticking in park. I thought it was the brake switch so I swapped it out. Didn’t fix it. Assume it to be the shift lock solenoid. It will go into gear by using the shift lock bypass slot. You can’t feel the little click in the console like you used to when it released. Took the shifter and cover off and zip tied the plastic arm out of the way. Now it won’t be a problem until the zip tie breaks and I’ll do it again. Prices are all over the place. OEM is like $200. Ten cent zip tie for the win. Semi permanent.

No joke, on trucks like ours, there was a bulletin for the intermediate steering shaft which caused like a clunking noise in the floor that you could feel and the repair was a grease kit and it said in the bulletin to "stroke the shaft". There's no way the engineers that wrote that weren't laughing about it...
Ahhh, the good old days at the dealership... Well, not really 🤣
