WTF halp!!!!! Huge Dealership Problem...

transferred plates off my yj and they were sending in the paperwork so I'm not even sure what my plates would come up if a cop ran them. Geico didn't seem to give much a damn about anything. Pretty sure I could insure anything with them regardless of ownership haha. Was asked to put together a list of suitable replacements on friday so trying to get that to them asap so maybe I can make out good on this.
Seems like a nice four door JK is in your future.

Call DMV investigations. They can not sell a car with out the title. the dealer has a 50k bond that is availble to prevent them from doing this.

Trust me this will fix them:flipoff2:

Not sure how much good thats actually going to do me except for them sealing up and making this goto court. I mean I'm already about to be in for a custody ordeal not sure I wanna do another court battle for this. Plus then the DMV would most certainly take the jeep.

Title

Call DMV, they will have a field day with the dealership, and for once will be your friend. They will force them to deal with you.

i have a freind/fellow board member that works in the title office at a dealership she is going to look into it. i did find out that a dealer has 30 days to turn the title over to the dmv after the sale. it has nothing to do with your situation but when i worked for dodge a guy traided in a truck for a new one and didnt like it so he brought it back 2 days later (nc has a 3 day return law) and they had to give him his old truck back and they had already changed fluids, wiper blades, tune up,brakes, new tires and a full tank of gas. it was funny

she just pm'd me .
Just read over this. Crazy, weve done it before. LOL I see what you are saying about the repo. But id be
sketch because since title lost and still in original owners name they may get stingy and get it back b/c legally still in there name. There are so many scenerios and loopholes I'd be afraid to touch this one. but that dealer. I def wouldnt do biz with them.

so do u have to make payments on a jeep that u dont own ?the finance company has no title so they cant repo it if they dont have a lein signed on a title.

Paid for it in full with cash. :shaking:

thats the thing. Its as much mine as it is theirs haha. Neither of us have a title in hand but both of us have a bill of sale. So really they can't get "stingy" imho. They could however tell me to just go fu@k myself. Thats what worries me

Well, if they tell you that, then there is a REAL good chance they will have their dealer's license suspended or revoked.
They have to make it right. They were "fast tracking" a sale, before they had their ducks in a row. Usually it works out, and they get the sale quick, etc. Sometimes it backfires on them like this.

Dealership def in wrong. Should never sell a vehicle without a clear title ready to register. You do have them by balls. But may be better to keep it between you and that dealer versus getting others involved. Depending on who involved you could screw yourself. Play your cards right and you could def come on top on this one!:huggy:

The plot thickens

Called the DMV and ran an autocheck. Theres a lien against the vehicle. The vehicle can not be titled b/c of that. Also I am illegally driving it. I was told that if I'm pulled they are going to pull the tags, impound the vehicle, and I was subject to numerous charges including gta. Not sure how true the last part is but what I was told. :shaking:

Who did you talk to a the DMV?
They are on your side with this. did you talk to the investigations division?

Tell the dealer to give you 100% refund and walk away. if they refuse call dmv investigations right there from the dealers lot. there Bond will pay you if they won't

Thats probably all for the most part true.....I remember one time my dad got pulled over and got the same kind of deal with the cops even though the car was registered to him etc.

He had his car at a mechanic in a bad area of Charlotte and the mechanic would take the plates off the vehicles because the thugs would come steal the plates at night. When he picked up the car the mechanic accidently put the wrong plate on the car and he got pulled over. Cop let him call the mechanic who explained everything to him and he was let go.....He was told that since nothing matched up they could have charged him with GTA and numerous other infractions.

I would ask for CASH back + your out of pocket expenses that you have spent on the truck since then. Then re-negotiate for a different vehicle or take your cash and buy elsewhere.

But I would be heading to that dealer NOW since DMV has been informed / there could be a "watch" out for your tag / vehicle now after that phone call.

Don't try to screw the dealer over but in the same vein don't let them take advantage of you.

Find a vehicle on their lot that is comparable and do the trade. I would tell them DMV has already been informed and just needed to know if they need to get involved.

Which sucks b/c what I paid is no where close to value

Parking it in the garage til something is figured out. Dealer said he's going to have a loaner to me tomorrow. :shaking: See if that happens.

He pretty much has jack at the moment that I would even consider driving. He's supposed to have me a list asap he can pull off of other lots.

I agree, just walk in and tell them you want all cash back plus expenses, and get it over with. As time passes, teh ice you're treading on gets thinner...

yea its going under lock/key til I get $ or a new ride. He just offered $ back+expenses+1000 to end it all. Gonna think about it tonight and add up my expenses. Still doesn't get me anywhere near kbb but looks like I might just take my lump and run. Just sucks to put time into a vehicle then have to go get something of lesser $

This is easy. Take two days off work... Even if you have to borrow money. Go beat the crap out of it at Uwharrie. If you think your wife or whoever will care... Don't tell them, just take day trips, or work over time. THEN return it for a refund. Everyone is happy.

If they are going to put a grand in you pocket, what is there to think about? Take the money and get out while the getting is good.

x2
Dealer/wachovia screwed my maxima up. I ended up getting pulled in Va Beach for driving a stolen vehicle.
(They'd flagged the tag, long story)
So I had to get an attorney, go to court, etc etc etc.
I got court costs and "expected attorney fees" paid by Wachovia. Real fees were ~500, they paid me 125$.
:(

title questions

The dealer that you bought the Jeep from is in the wrong for selling you the Truck with out having the title in hand at the time of sell. Dealers are required to have the title before Retailing a car or Truck to the customer. But it happens alot if there is a payoff on a vech. When they sold you the Jeep they might not of know the title was unavailable depending on how they got the jeep. If it was traded to them and the person that traded it Lied or If it was purchased from another dealer at Auction. That dealer might have been waiting to get the title from a bank? When you are going to talk to DMV you need to talk to a DMV inspector not just someone working at the desk.
