What happened in that van?

One police spokesman blamed the trouble on "isolated pockets" of individuals who were believed to have come from out of town.

The protesters are looking for a reason, plain and simple. While I have zero sympathy for the "black cause" and the lowest common denominator of human existence tearing up their own neighborhoods, this man was murdered. Eric Garner was also murdered (for selling untaxed cigarettes) as was Walter Scott.

Cops have developed an "us vs. them" mentality that includes ALL non-LEO. It has not been about being an officer of the peace since the early 60s and has gotten to the point of being an occupying army in our own land.

I was attacked, choked out and beaten AFTER being restrained and in the back of a patrol car. I did not resist at any time nor did I give any reason for for the beatdown (even if it were acceptable to beat someone in custody). I was a 20 year old who had indeed broken a law (not drug or theft related) and while I was in the wrong, I did not deserve the treatment I received while other officers looked on like spectators at a ball game.

While that treatment was brought out and the MFer was busted down in rank, he was not prosecuted for assault nor was any other LEO punished for not intervening.

This was 25 years ago, it is MUCH worse now.

What do they make traffic cones out of in Baltimore?!?!?!?!

lol stupid fucker, I hope they burn their own city down.

Did you see how they were acting like such badasses destroying everything, then ran like little bitches when they saw the cops coming....

The frustrating part it is pretty well accepted now that the vast majority of the "trouble makers" were from out of town.

I'm not saying that's here's aren't hooligans in Baltimore, it's full of 'em - but it's really irritating that people feel like they should come in and make trouble, making the whole crowd look bad.

So what do you do about that? By limiting traffic in and out of the Baltimore, MD area, you are limiting "Freedom of Movement". As expressed in article 13 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, it asserts that:
  • a citizen of a state in which that citizen is present has the liberty to travel, reside in, and/or work in any part of the state where one pleases within the limits of respect for the liberty and rights of others
The concept of "peaceable assembly" is so subjective that it's one more thing that you don't want a law enforcement officer to have to navigate. There are just so many wanting to push the limits of free speech that where does one draw the lines between "freedom of expression", "public nuisance" and "inciting a riot"?

Bring in the National Guard and pepper bomb the whole area to disperse the looters.

Why does it matter if the rioters were from out of town? And how would you know? Thousands of protestors and only 10 arrests? Do people think that the low life's in Baltimore are staying at home when all of this is going down? Of course they're not.

Agreed...... I hate it when people come from out of town to start trouble:

Not sure where your info is from but local news said > 40 arrests. And that's b/c I'm sure the LEOs were holding back as much as possible, knowing they're under the microscope.
And when you arrest people, you get their address. Pretty easy to tell who is local, especially when the locals who are there are in fact trying to show that they aren't all thugs and are just law abiding citizens (that's what this is about, right? "good folks" getting unfair treatment?), and others show up and cause trouble - they'll rat out the outsiders quickly.

There's a lot in between "not staying at home" - e.g. showing up for peaceful assembly - and inciting riots etc.

Regardless. Its such a small percentage, how can you have on the record and say the 'majority' of the trouble makers were from out of town? And again, a rioter/looter deserves a rubber bullet to the groin, regardless of where they get the mail.

Statistics man. its very simple.
I arrest 40 people for causing trouble. That gives me a sample of all the people causing trouble.
Now consider out of the crowd, what is the maximal % that are probably not residents? 10%? 20%
Just compare that % to what you arrest. Lets say 30 of them are not Baltimore residents. That means that the majority of trouble makers are not residents.
Yes, the sample could be slightly biased if local guys are better at evading cops of whatever. But you have to figure, if you randomly sampled (arrested) ALL the people there, then only a very, very small % should be non-residents. Compare that to what you get.

its not rocket surgery.

If I were a steel worker on a high rise I might fall off one day...a criminal, I might fall victims to the popos .....occupational hazard.

It may be simple, but I doubt it is.

And yes, I understand statistics.

Wooh....watch em go.
Bunch of ignorant sub humans tearing up the city.
Mayor has said " let them have a little space to destroy" wtf?

So why not shuttle the protesters over to some of the abandoned row houses that they've been dealing with for years and let them tear those down? Let em vent their frustration in a constructive destructive manner. Win win....

Heck, I bet the police would even bring them refreshments if they did this!

The police look real cool standing there in their pretty lines. While pcs of shit loot and burn. They even attacked the firemen and cut holes in the fire hoses. I am simply baffled.

Kudos to the young black town council man for calling out these criminals for what they are.

And Kudos to Robert Valentine Vietnam Veteran.
Standing between the police line and the community, we need more of him.
Greatest Generation.
