Frankenstein Street Queen (a.k.a. SpeedBump)

i picked up some audio materials so i can wire up this radio. also picked up the mini wire clips needed for the wiper. ill jethro something up with mr. fife and get them workable. ultimately ill need to acquire a new motor in order to get the pigtail that comes with it, and then get a new wiper/brights assembly for the column. then ill be able to use the signal lever to operate the wipers. or ill leave it as is and use one of the switches to run it.

what is most pressing is i need to figure out this sending unit issue. i have the proper autometer gauge (0-90) and i have the brand new sender assembly in the tank (0-90) along with the walbro pump. the ohm reading for the sender is all over the place. most of the moments its 100+++ ohm which causes the gauge to read way past Full. Every once in awhile it will forget its shitty disposition and send the right ohms. Back when it was doing that more often, the gas gauge would bounce from max to its position (pretty erratically). If you put the DM on the signal wire going into the gauge you get this same erratic behaviour with the majority of it being 100+ ohm. If you play around with taking the DM ground off then on you can get it to show you the right ohm reading for the fuel in the tank.

Kinda at a loss of what to do. The next step I guess is to drop the tank and manually measure the sender at the start and work my way up. Anyone ever experience this issue before? I have the sender/pump assembly ground directly to the battery. The gauges are also grounded directly to the battery. The body is grounded directly to the battery. Block is grounded to the battery and firewall.

been driving! its fun! man are ax15s loud lol. makes me want to make a butyl mat/ carpet blanket to cover the tunnel.

just need to figure out this fuel guage ohm issue. trying to run the gas down as much as I can to facilitate dropping the tank. While i have it off im gunna make the marks i need to go ahead and make an access panel. also need to figure out a access panel cover.

Shoulda got some sony xplode speakers for the dash, that way you could have kept your red/orange and black theme going from the engine bay to the inside... :flipoff2:

These are the braided lines i got off amazon to do the master to prop valve with. They are working extremely well. Super cheap compared to braided lines jegs/summit and other places had. No leaks. Used some -an to inverted female fittings to get bolted to the master and prop.

Lol

I dont wanna admit how long I scrolled subscribed threads looking for my build thread lol. Someone’s got jokes. Either a mod or some yahoo at home lmao.

Installed the spartan locker today. So officially 4x4 now! Forgot to take pics (woah...) but here is a pic after done and the Metalcloak diff cover installed.

Filled it up with fluids and finished putting the calipers and wheels back on.

Now need to dig out the torch and get this shifter rod bent for the 4wd shift.

Ordering a 60 diff cover with a high fill tomorrow. Then just gunna bolt up the stock skid plate for now. Need to go buy some sheet and befriend someone with a plasma cutter lmao.

Here is a pic for pics sake

Sold the car. Now time to find a pickup!

I’ll be able to tow to the flats and shop not soon enough!

No way dude. The hoe aint meant for that

HAHA, you act like a YJ on a trailer is actually towing. People pull travel trailers with way more weight than your setup.

lol to make more clear, the wife's DD isnt going to be used to pull a trailer into a muddy area. she likes nice things, i like to give her nice things, and it behooves me to make efforts to maintain her nice things as nice things. lol.

on another note. when running the heater on high the dash 12v can kick out for a few seconds or two. in the future going to need to pull the dash completely out and redo the wiring (boo), but will need to do this before doing the A pillar part of the cage. this will be a good time as any to address the fuel guage issue.

this weekend going to put in the 4wd shifter. im gunna see if i can get by with the stock skid plate for its first run. but need to get the diff guard on the 60 before the run. hoping a flats or shop run will open up end of Feb or later March

@paradisePWoffrd how much you think it weighs? prob looking at a 1/2 ton gasser, which should be in the 8.5k tow range, unless i find a HD and get in the 10.2k range.

IIRC, my fat bastard CJ (before I cut the tub in half) weighed about 3400 and change when I weighed it years ago. Hard top, full doors, SBC, 3/4 ton axles at the time on 38" Boggers. That plus any moderately sized trailer (I've got a 16' flatbed that I haul my chit on) shouldn't weigh any more than about 6k or so. Call it 7k tops with any extra gear. That should put you well within the range for a 1/2 ton pickup.

For informational purposes, my 1500 Ram can tow [EDIT] just under 10k (9830 - just looked it up). I think you'd be just fine with looking for a 1/2 ton.

I would guess ~4k. Might be a little lighter. Add in a trailer of ~1500lb, should be able to tow it easy.

I borrowed my dads '12 1500 chevy to haul my bronco once. ~4500lbs plus trailer. Took all the hills without issue.
