So I shouldn't use the 1" solid pin as the mount but use bolts to have a little give
 
I would try to move that thing over to the driver side more, so that you can go on top. Maybe you can simply pivot in 180? Leave the axle side mount about where it is on the tube and have the ram pointing to the driverside.

Also, you want to have 1 clevis pointing vertical and one pointing horizontal. The tierod travels in all 3 dimensions as in moves (up/down, in/out, side/side) and the clevis limit movement other then rotating around the pin. Normally folks have the axle side mount horizontal and the tierod side mount vertical. The bolts being slightly loose in the clevis eyes helps with this some too.

I would use bolts vs a pin. Normally the casting is such that a 1" pin or bolt isnt a tight fit to begin with.

the front diff cover is the stock 1/8" or little thicker one not the thin kind but is that stout enough for the mount?
i didn't go the drivers side mount cause I'd have to make like 4-5" long brackets off the axle housing to mount it and figured that's too much work and probably not as strong. I was figuring it's way easier to do a flat skid under it on passenger side rather than trying to make a beefy long bracket above on drivers side

John, I know I showed you my set up at the flats. Why not do something like Mine? It’s out of the way enough and it was pretty easy to make a skid plate for it. It sits behind the tie rod so the tie rod protects the ram too.
As far as limiting it. I guess I agree with the others. I didn’t limit mine, but my axle doesn’t have the steering stops, so it uses the full 8 inches. Or really close.

@Van-go that's pretty much exactly what I ended up with on the passenger side behind it and up a little bit so a rock would actually hit the tie rod and Axle housing pretty much almost all of it before he would ever hit the ramp but I'm going to put a skid there anyways. Finally just pick something yesterday tacked it and tried putting the steering lock to lock and well that worked and the lines clear so got it welded just before having to take welder back...bummer no welder now, better hope I'm done lol

If you need to borrow it, I have an older miller that runs on 110 you can keep until your done. I don’t ever use it. It will work for anything you’ve done so far

Well lots to say, lots to say but I'll keep it short as possible.
First, Thank you to everyone again Very Much for all your help with this 1 Ton build and proper links and such. Thank you for your time and patience invested in my build!
It performed AMAZING!! WOW!! I couldn't be happier and then some! People laugh at how exited I got at every trail I did today lol but I'm like a little kid with this stuff that I've never done and accomplished!
Only quirk it had was the collar on the 2 piece axle kept sliding to unlock so this new friend i made ran home got his lincoln 110v flux machine and I welded the collar to the axles...smart?? probably not but who cares it was a field repair but I figured I'd weld it solid to the axle rather than just tac. Burned it in pretty good and holy cow, it held up. Went up full trail of Tank Trap right after (probably dumb) to test it and well it held then we played on so many reds and took them pretty well. Bottoms Up" was my hardest trail for this rig, steep loose dirt with rocks just wasn't happening so winched 3 times but the rest of them was awesome.
Links performed very well, many people commented on how well it flexes and very happy with how stable, very stable it felt. Other than shift collar on axle coming loose twice, nothing else expect broke a rear shock..actually broke the shock itself on tank trap. The links took lots of abuse, the rear D70 took a lot of hits LOL but it's a pig so it can handle it. Front held up very well. No BOUNCING of the front or rear when throttle hardly so I guess something is right on the geometry for that to happen.
Besides a few small instances, I done really well to keep out of the throttle all weekend and what a difference. Finished the day off with completing the big rock garden right at the parking lot in front that many buggies didn't make and several did. Took my time, it took a while but I made it so this weekend I'm back to my "crawling" style of wheeling lol. Kinda ironic though to keep out of the gas now that I have big enough axles to handle some rpms.
Hydraulic Ram was the coolest investment and upgrade I've ever done, for me anyways. I've ALWAYS had weak steering and this time, with big wide tires I was able to turn anywhere and everywhere even in the tightest of places or bound up really hard so that was soooo cool to have that. have a couple videos coming soon as I get them here somehow. Thanks again to everyone for all your help with this. You have made someone VERY happy and satisfied with their rig!!!
 
one of the coolest things that happened somehow was the upper right part of tank trap entrance that many were struggling on, that's the 3rd ^^^ picture. Somehow magically got the right line from the getgo and walked it...whaaaatt video of that coming as you'll see as soon as it starts that the "walking it" that happened. How? don't know and don't care but it was cool and you can see my face surprised right after we crawled it lol. videos are taking forever to load to Youtube but their coming
 
ok this is easy st exit, made it all the way past the hard stuff then the shift collar let go on pass axle...right after we went to weld it lol not bad though

I cannot remember if you wanted the 2 piece axles or not... But I am pretty sure they make a 1 piece long side for the dodge axles.
 
Several of us mentioned that several times. It's going to be fun getting that shaft out now if he ever needs to.

If I'm not mistaken, you can use Dana 50 TTB knuckles out to make a free spin set up on those Dana 60s. Then if you did a 1 piece shaft, at least you could unlock the front if it has welded spiders.

I did but now not needed. Yeah gonna suck getting out the 2piece welded to the collar lol..gonna take some fanagling to cut it out lol...I just can't believe it held through everything with little Lincoln welds lol on hardened steel at that.
 
I don’t always (almost never) agree with you John, and I’ve never looked at this thread until today only to check out the videos you posted, but I’m happy to see you out wheeling some awesome trails and what appears to be a pretty capable rig. Albeit cobbled together and crazy looking, you seem to be having a blast and have learned some from the folks here. As it stand your are wheeling more than me and your crazy rig may even go more places than mine, cheers to you!

Yes, d50 or d60 outter bj knuckles,spindles, hubs, stub shafts and the rest of the assembly will mount and give you lockouts on a dodge 60. I’m not sure of the strength difference between a d50 outter and a Dodge 60 unit bearing though. The conversion adds like 1/2” to WMS on each side too.
 
I mentioned the D50 stuff because nobody wants it :D

It's not really surprising that the collar holds. The welds are literally just having to keep it from sliding off the end of one shaft and letting it uncouple. You could have done two small tacks just in the splines and left the collar loose and it would have done the same thing.
 
I cringed every time I watched you grab that a-pillar and door bar. Let the cage do it’s job. Keep your arms/hands in the rig! We’ve all done it, but it’s a lesson nobody wants to learn the hard way. Glad to see you wheelin your rig, and glad you’re happy with it. Keep it up.
i know it's a bad habit so I need to build some handles for me on both sides of me to grab onto rather than what I use. I try to be mindful of it and am but there are the times that I grab those without realizing it but I am aware and plans are to add some grab handles that are convenient to hold. thanks man
