Phase one is complete.....down to the frame. Now the hard part starts. I think the first two components I’ll focus on are the steer axle and the transfer case.

Wow! you've been a busy man!

I took the week off to head down to Greenville with my wife because she has some onsite stuff to do at ECU, but the storm has changed her schedule, so I decided to build an axle stand today. I struggle with fab work and I found out I’m not very good at tube notching either, but I enjoy this kind of stuff. Just have to put some finishing touches on it tomorrow.

Finished up the axle stand. So rating myself on a scale of 1 to 10....fab skills:3.2...weld skills:3.0.....tube notching skills:1.9....cussing skill:9.8....I wish I done more of this stuff to get better at it. My goal is to build the cage for the black sheep, but I have a long way to go before I could tackle that. But I like learning and this stuff is fun, not the same ol crap like at work.

I plan on swapping in a 22re and a 5 speed. That’s a w56 trans , right? Chris.
There's a quite a few, but a W56 is one. That's what my 4Runner had in it. Whenever you get one look into the low range shifter bushings. Cheaper than Marlin Crawlers but get the job done.

You're really making me miss both of my Toyota's with this build. I don't need another project but man I'd love to have another 4Runner or Tacoma to cruise around in.
