Am I being a Dumbass?

You are the first person I have ever heard of that thought the Grand Canyon was unimpressive. You sure you didn't go to the wrong canyon?

No it was the “correct” hole in the ground and I was more impressed w red rock canyon in Gallop NM and Moab.

Much easier on the eyes, more accessible, better hiking trails, better camping, much cleaner water, I could go on;)
I like your assessment. We can still be friends.

. If you’ve never driven 14 hours in a day, I highly recommend you NEVER do it.

It's not a long day on the road, until you realize you are ducking for underpasses.

We told you that on page one.

Oh, I’ve done it before. Probably do it again. Still don’t “recommend” it.

It’s a big hole with a dirty river in it. A friend and I walked to the edge, talked about how much dirt it would take to fill it since he owns a construction business and walked away. Of things to see in the US that revolve around nature and the outdoors it’s just meh in my book.

The thing for me about the grand canyon is it's hard to emerse yourself in it without a days hike to the bottom. Otherwise it's just a view .I'm glad I've been there and will probably take the family there one day but it's really just a big hole unless you have time to explore the hole.

Zion National Park is one of my favorite places in the southwest.

It’s DONE!! No drama, no carnage, and no tickets. Time for some family time. I’ll post up the dollars tomorrow to see if I’m due some “I told you so” comments.

Glad you’re home safe! Enjoyed watching the trip, I’m sure you and your sis made memories of a lifetime!

I have not been there yet. My parents may have taken me as a kid but I don't recall. I doubt I'll get to explore the bottom when I do though. My left knee is messed up and hiking is something I'm very limited on doing.

@BigSouth lad you are home safe. Looking forward to the build up.

Numbers are in!

Fuel: $983.17

Hotels: $615.47

Total: $1598.64

Still $200+ less than the cheapest quote to ship it. Worth mentioning is the $300 hotel room in Vegas that was super nice, but entirely unnecessary. The total could’ve come in another $200 cheaper. Big lesson learned is on fuel. If I had to do it again, I’d have about a 40 gallon aux tank to get me past those stupidly priced stations. Nothing pisses you off more than filling up a tank and passing a station 30 miles down the road selling fuel for 50-60 cents less per gallon. All in all, it was a hell of a road trip. Good times and memories with Lil Sis. Brought home an awesome deal on a well built chassis and a brand new set of Racelines. Wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.

So how many gallons of fuel did it take to get there and back?

Didn’t track the gallons, but if you do the math on miles / mpg, it does come out to 307.5796178

Does this factor in the "vacation time" lost? Or is that even a consideration

IMHO it was a no brainer: The memories and experience will last a lifetime. WELL worth the money, even if you lost money.

I enjoyed this trip. Thank you for sharing

My rotation at work has a 7 day break every 5 weeks. Perk to working a rotating shift job. Not a single minute of vacation was used. I got off work last Friday morning. Crashed a few hours before driving. I go back to work tomorrow.

I want to see a line item on that steak.

Mastro’s Ocean Club
8oz A5 Wagyu
$150 for just the steak.

I treated Lil Sis because that’s what big brothers do. Out the door including tip was $280.

My guess is ~307 gallons.

Yeah I can do that math too, but I'm betting it was a good bit more than 307 gallons. Probably closer to 350 gallons, which is why I asked the question. I'm a data addict, and I don't trust doctored numbers. I like the raw data, and vehicle computers are always overly optimistic.

Maybe I missed it through the pages, but did we get a pic of the load? Just curious how it ended up with your rigging.

Back on page 10, but here it is again.
