Well.

Here we are.

Coming home from our third surgery to remove objects from her guts in less than 6 months. The last surgery was right before Christmas. The internal stitches hadn't even dissolved yet when they cut her open yesterday and pulled a sock out.

First time, I think it was around $800 to pull a glove out. Second time, it was $1100 to pull pantyhose out. This time... it was $1800 to get a sock out because she was at the Vets for a week trying all sorts of stuff to get it out of her guts without having to do surgery. Lots of Xrays and enemas and barillium attempts...

-sigh-

No more. Next time, I let her die and the kids get to learn about the circle of life and the rainbow bridge. Because this is nuts.

But look at that sweet face! 😍

I seriously never thought I would ever post in this thread, yet here we are. Little ankle biter is growing on me. Our first vet visit for vaccines went well, but I can see this is going to be an expensive proposition.

You got your dog a kid?!?!?!

Wife and I decided we wanted to get serious about a dog(s) once we got back from vacation. Didn’t figure it was fair to put a puppy on someone else while we were gone for a few weeks.

One of the St Bernard breeders I was in contact with messaged me 5 days ago, to let me know they just had a litter of pups to a smooth coat female. Pending health analyses, the purple collar is mine. She’s 7 days old today.

I was absolutely in love with her mother before, and this is the males first litter.

And as luck would have it…I was at Incendiary in Winston yesterday…got talking to a couple that had a dog that looked exactly like my Josie. Sure enough it was a helluva good looking mastidane. In a twist of fate, they got him from a relatively new breeder, less than 20mins from me. He has a male and a female pup…female is tentatively spoken for, but I’m first on the waitlist…otherwise he’s planning another litter in 3-6 months.

Not gonna lie, the family has really been down in the dumps without a dog around the house. On a nightly basis the kids say they miss our dogs and pray at dinner/bed time to get another just like Keena/Josie. It’s the first time me or my wife have ever not had a dog in the house, even as kids. So we’re all super stoked.

The guy ended up deciding to sell the mastidane female. My folks decided they wanted a dog back in the house, so I’m waiting until next litter, after I’ve had some time with my St Bernard. But this little girl just melted in my arms and looks exactly like my first mastidane Josie. I’ll be spending a lot of time with her.
