Anyone had one or know of someone that has/had one?
I know new they were stupid expensive compared to other 1/2 ton options. That said ive been looking on and off for a newer (used) truck and they seem to be more affordable, although still not cheap. i get less heartburn about the price tag when its got less than 100,000 miles and a higher trim package than comparably priced Toyotas, fords and chevys

Not much info, but one was camped next to me last week. Was towing a huge fifth wheel. Talked to the owner briefly about it. Said he really liked it.

Ian Johnson has one as his tow rig IIRC. He may have a video on it since he commonly refers to liking it.

I'll add this truck is going to be a weekend use truck. Pull my 20ft camper and boat. So nothing heavy or hard really to pull. I use my work truck currently and have no issues a 2.7ecoboost.

Although I can use my work truck I feel weird about it. More so when I'm pulling my camper several states away. And plan on driving out west and possibly up to the UP next year and don't want to drive the work truck that far.

I think it’s one of those things that everyone who has one likes it, but it’s not for everyone. And they suck for MPG, which should be where they shine. But japtrucks consistently get poor mpg because of gearing. Seems like the perfect truck for most people if you tune and delete it to get decent mpg and more power.

Per Fuelly, the diesels got 15mpg and the gassers got 13mpg. Impressively bad for both. But with a tune and delete, some people are claiming more like 18-20mpg on the diesel. And superb power and driving experience.

Whats the price on them? less power, less mpg. less towing than a 2500. 🤷‍♂️
If they got decent mpg i think it would have been more popular.
I've found several right under 30,000.00 with less than 50,000 miles on them. Both are pro4x with leather interior.

I remember when they first came out and they were as much as new 2500 and 250s I think that killed their sells

They were saying that the Cummins is worse than those two
The 5.0 V8 Cummins has a decent history in stationary constant RPM applications. (Pumps and Gens)...but it hates hates hates revs.
It is purely my opinion that it was a horrible idea to ever put that engine in a truck. It was a worse idea for Cummins to allow Nissan to dictate, spec and supply their own turbo. That the Titan is problematic in any form, and that its a Nissan, just add to the 'Aw Hell Naw' position I'd take

why do you want a diesel?

i dont need or even really want a diesel.

I want a decent truck. that doesnt have stupid miles for what they are asking.

the titans keep popping up with WAY less miles (100,000+ less miles) and higher trim levels than trucks in the same price range. im not at the point of having to buy a truck and dont see that i will be any time soon. so if something doesnt come along by next fall when i will need a truck for some trips ill just rent a truck.

i was doing some research last night and the commercial 5.0 Cummins and the Nissan 5.0 Cummins share about 75% of their parts.

Im always very scurred of "new" auto manufactures. I could get in a honda civic or tacoma tomorrow - id know its the same shit for decades. Enough time to work out the kinks, or at least enough time that all the problems that could arise have a strong aftermarket liquidity for fixes and/or improvements. Sans electronic epa bs.

I have chatted with Ian about his and he said he loves it, he has pulled 2 car trailer with rigs and no issues, he has pulled to moab many times. he did have to add air bag to the rear as it squatted a ton when loaded

Some year models had a tendency to make coolant disappear. Other than that...I wouldn't own one because the trucks are uglier than a fart in church.

so I was curious why anyone would subject themselves to a used diesel truck
Have you ever owned a diesel truck? Personally, I haven't owned a gasser truck since I bought my first diesel. I'm addicted to the torque. But not everybody feels the same, and that is fine. All of my heavy equipment and 3 of my 4 regular drivers are diesel, and that's only because they don't make a diesel minivan ;)
