Anyone Else Love Their HOA?

Too many HOA ruled developments here in VA. I just bought a house this past year and I decided to pay a little more for the house than to live in a development with an HOA. My truck sits in the driveway with both sides of the bed caved in, a few leaks and a wicked gangsta lean to the driver's side (bent springs). One neighbor has consistenly rolled her eyes when I load it up, but the rest think it's got character and come by frequently to ask about my latest adventure or mod to the truck. They can respect that I have a ton of money and time in my rig, my trailer and my tow rig.

A friend of mine lives in a subdivision where you aren't allowed to have a boat because they don't want it to be seen in your yard, driveway or on the street. Another I looked at said you can't park your vehicles in the driveway overnight- they must be in a garage- hell neither of my trucks would fit in one!

I wouldn't want someone to move in with a pile of junk vehicles in the yard either, so I can understand the HOA's purpose.

we should hold a rig building party in your driveway. have about 5 trucks pulled apart like that, lol.

min has sent out 180 letters about lawn upkeep alone this year. If your junk isn't cut every week right on time you will see a letter. If you work on your car you will see a letter. And if you set up a 10x10 tent........strip down a jeep........and paint it in the driveway they really get pissed

All the reasons above is why I bought a place that does not have HOA..

I would be in so much trouble if I lived with an HOA

I got the same letters about my blazer and trailer in the past.
They told me I could not store the blazer on the trailer in the drive so I off loaded it and loaded the cannons and sent this pic. I told them the trailer was now moved from the drive and the blazer is parked in the drive. If they care to talk about the parking anymore please stop in anytime, We could talk parking all they wanted........

trailer

got a nasty-gram from my HOA about my trailer in a side yard that you cant see from the road unless youre acutally IN my yard. So I read the covenants front to back and used the rules against them. I can have 'garden implements' too large to store indoors such as tillers etc, outside behind a 'privacy screen.' So I keep a bag of mulch in the trailer (large wagon)and let my bushes grow a bit (privacy screen) on that side of the house. Explained politely and the nasty grams stopped. Amazing how easy they folded up. They told me that they do not police, just reply to complaints. Still cant figure out which bizitch narced on me since everybody uses the trailer...

oh, and Dylan, I dropped a duece in your driveway one night (the stars were pretty out) just because I could- and blamed it on your dog. its certainly private in there indeed.

 Everyone has a crappy narc of a neighbor. Kill them and 2 more will move in to replace them.
I just moved to a house in N. Durham County and have no HOA but I have an old lady that's a nosy bitch that slows down to a crawl when she goes by and her head goes back and forth trying to see what I'm doing. Feels rather awkward when she sees my standing beside the house taking a piss. :flipoff2: Only one bathroom and I'm the dude. So...
Anyways, had a fire the other night and 5 minutes after she went by the Fire Dept. came. Found out what I can and can't do in Durham County now. Can only burn natural substances in a fire barrel without a permit. Might have to pull my barrel over to the edge of my shop yard next to hers and Git-er-done!
Got a party planned in 2 weeks and I'm sure she's going to have issues with cars along side the road. But what really urks me is the way she's all sprawled out into my access easement to my shop with an aluminum awning and her car parked in it. I've gave thought to running into it and taking her to court for placing a structure in my easement. I've tried to be nice but I can play her game if she's wanting to play.
But I think: Life would be soooooo boring without a shitty neighbor to mess with.

My bad neighbors end up in the freezer or at the stock market.

Blamed it on the dog, huh?

Hell the dog prolly ate it. I never see cat poop and have seen the dog eat that.

I just remember 'daisy the dog' giving you big ole kisses and licks on your face and how much you musta loved that sweet dog giving you a face full of your own duece:flipoff2:

That blows...

I've had no problems with out HOA(knock on wood). Honestly I could see someone bitchin about the Jeep if it stayed out there for a few weeks, but 4 hours?????

I'm OK with HOA's as long as it's nothing crazy. I've heard all kinds of stuff about being fined for clover, trash can placement, and such. All I want is the neighborhood to look decent, doesn't have to the Biltmore estate, but just keep it clean.

Neighbors down the road have a $4500 lein on their house from the HOA (different neighborhood than mine) all stemming from a $400 fine they refused to pay. Idiots.

My buddy got a fine for replacing his mail box with one of those large mouth bass mail boxes.

Basically it turned into a war and he owed them close to 10k.
Of course 10k was after he took to tieing an adult blow up doll to the mail box, erecting mini bill board in the front yard, and plastering every house on his street with pink flamingos.

He kept it up until he put the house on the market, they were so glad to be rid of him they waived all the HOA fees and the lien position...

If you are dumb enough to live in a neighborhood with a HOA that will fine you and put a lein on your property for doing what you want with your own property...Then you are dumb enough. That is near the top of the list of the dumbest things people do. :shaking:

my development doesn't have an HOA, but we did have some stipulations in our covenance (i.e.-no trampolines, no above ground inflatable pools). well, my neighbor on the left has a trampoline, and the neighbor on the right has an inflatable pool. :shaking: the neighbor 3 houses down has 2 big piles of dirt under tarps, for some reason, and a 3 legged dog that roams the neighborhood chasing cats and running in front of cars. overall everyone is pretty cool, but some of the kids are pretty annoying.

Most new neighborhoods now a days have HOAs. There is no way around them unless you live in the country or outside of any new neighborhoods.

Although they are annoying, they serve a minimal cause to keep the neighborhood in decent orderly shape, maintain the signs and street lights, etc. etc.

I'd hate to be my neighbor if we didn't have a HOA, I'd have all my crap all over the place like at the last house!!! :shaking:
