Need GIF converted to CAD (DXF)

I forgot to ask.. do you just want it inserted into Cad, or do you want each line to be traced so you can then (lets say cut it out on laser cutter)?
 
Whoa, you can really take a random image file and convert it to CAD? Like how high of a resolution/detailed image can you use?
I use CAD pretty much every day (2005 LT) and have been scratch drawing a lot of stuff...
 
NO cad program has perfected raster to vecter converting... :shaking:
Now on the other hand Chase, I do CADD for a living along side a few others I've met on here and I can import anything or digitize or scan anything up to 48 inches either color or b/w and then trace / draw anything you would ever want 2D or 3D in CADD and would be extremely willing to trade services for at least a discount in getting a gear install. :huggy:
I have 16 years under my belt in Autocad or Microstation with DXF capabilities with access to alot of software. Heck, I am just basically setting and twiddling thumbs right now anyways waiting for the Economy kick that's going to happen when Obama gets in office.:flipoff2:

yes it takes time.. but really not that big of a deal..

FYI: I work at an Architecture Firm :)

we currently use ADT2008, 2009, Revit, etc..
 
I sent bruiser the file this morning, ken if you don't want to mess with it ill get 6bang to do it, for as much business as he has odne with me I should throw some back his way. just let me know i don't really care who does it.
 
Chase, you did me a couple favors with overnight installs so gussets and small shit is free anytime Bud! I've done CNC designs before if that's what this is for? If so, whoever does it needs to think out their starting and endpoints to make best use of laser time for any mass productions.
 
ok, Ill bite. how are you guys importing exactly? what file types , methods etc. help a brotha out! I pretty much just draw up broken stuff here at work, dont do much interesting stuff like this, but it would be handy to know when I am working with old hand drawn stuff that I need to digitize for rough scaling. and building trucks of course
 
here is a quick version I did.. If I get some really free time I will do a good job.. but I also sent the logo to Jeremy for him to play with..

you can tell I spent some time on the big letter and not much on the little letters :)

Not too bad for a quickie Ken! Impressive as a matter of fact for the time. I PM'd Chase that I'll take it on after work. Job ain't as secure as it used to be. But they don't mind after hours. I'll put some time in it and get it straight. I estimated a couple hours worth at most.
Now we'll get 37 CADD dudes whippin out some ECGS logos on here.:lol: I'm up for competition though. We'll blow em up about 10 times and THEN see who did CNC worthy work.:huggy:

but that brings up a great question..

Chase what do you want to use the .dxf file for?
logo on a set of beadlocks, some small cut outs for cage building, or a 20' sign in front of shop?

that does make a huge difference in time that will be needed to make it PERFECT
 
If you have that in a decent resolution, I might can save 6bangbronk some work.

I can trace that pretty damn fast in Adobe Illustrator and shoot him a DXF to finish up in CAD.

Actually, Who created the logo for you? Do you still have contact with them? I'm willing to bet it was created in Illustrator or Freehand. If you have any of the following formats let me know

.ai, .eps, .fh(version#), .fhmx or .cdr

If you have it or can get it, this is an easy conversion.

I still need to touch up a tad and ESPECIALLY set the lines to be drawn in order so I don't break any CNC machines.:beer:
 
There weren't 2 different charachters with simiularities at the bottom and the circle pattern had a stretch to it so that the teeth seemed to project out. So no 2 teeth were the same either in the end. Wasn't in a circular pattern as you'd imagine. I tried to mimick what a tooth looks like and not exactly what I saw in the file. Images aren't pretty to work from close up...

For the reasons you mentioned above and the fact that we're all looking at a 72dpi screen resolution image, is why I asked for the original art file. ;)

Depending on what size and how CPerry is using the logo, some of that won't matter. i.e. Detail is lost at smaller scales.

With the original Vector eps file One can Open with Adobe Illustrator and export to several formats including dxf. then reopen with CAD Since both work in Vector, all detail is saved and it's infinitely Scalable.
 
If he has the EPS, dosn't that eliminate the necessity of tracing?
I'm sure it was originally created in a vector-drawing program
