Im looking for some good toggle switches, not that plastic square light up shit, but like a good metal toggle switch for my winch and lights. Any suggestions on brands to look for?
If I’m trying to buy wiring stuff that’s not Amazon garbage I look on the pro wire website.

On my last long wheeling trip to hot springs my taillight almost fell out on the highway because the fender was flapping so bad. The fenders flapping has always annoyed me, and after watching a martec vid where he bolted the bed sides to his bumper, I figured why don't I do that.

Overkill bracket lol

And yes I see that hole in the bumper wing
support that I need to close up. The bolts a bit smaller than the hole with a nylon washer on both sides of the fender, so it should be able to move around a bit as stuff flexes around. I also need to fix that fender crack, may be an excuse to learn how to rivet and put a doubler plate behind it. Excited for no flapping fenders on my way to windrock in a few weeks.

Went out this morning to weld up some stuff on my frame that I found. Got one side done, then burned back the wire into the tip and decided that project is done and the other frame rail is a future me project lol. Then I decided to drill my shackle bolts out, killed a battery after one shackle, so decided to clean and organized the garage. After that, yanked the driver seat out and sealed up the floor around the panel over the tcase. Ended up drilling out the shackles and will change those this week sometime and hopefully that eliminates the shimmy it gets on long sweeping turns on the interstate.

How the grill ended up looking, winch controller port by the headlight, and contactor connected to the grill.

I may have some pakistani in me or something, no drill press, bolt the shackle to an old light mount on the truck and drill away lol

I really need to buy a damn drill press.

Since a job is not complete until you do it 3 times, I changed the front shackles out, a project I have been meaning to do for almost 2yrs now lol. So when I pushed the front axle forward a few winters back, I grabbed the wrong bushing tube holder thing for the shackle hangar, it was a 2" and I should have used a 2.5 to match the springs, well I found this out when I went to bolt the shackles on. Like any good Toyota owner, I said f it and just ran the shackles for "only one wheeling trip" like this /\. Well today I finally fixed that with some 2" to 2.5 shackles from Barnes lol.

I wonder why it shimmied on the highway in turns, drivers side is drooped but it's not far off on how it sat.

I also should have done this a long time ago, Lowe's had a 5gallon pail of gear lube on sale for 50% off a few months back, and I got a pump and dolly for it. I see why it was 50% off because it looks like the bucket lived its life outside, but whatever there was gear lube inside so win.

Did a nut and bolt check, just need to take it for a test spin to make sure I didn't make the problem worse and should be ready for windrock in 2 weeks.

Where did you get the pump for the 5 gal. Bucket? That would be handy to have.

Thanks!

Windrock was awesome, no issues with the truck. Did a 3day trip with a mixed group of Toyotas and jeeps ranging from a taco and yj on 40s, to a Tacoma on 35s and open front with a green driver, so we tried to hit trails for everyone. Drove around the woods on the first day after dumping all our shit at the Airbnb, was doing okay until a 1st gen 4runner in the group lost a fuel pump. My spare 3.4 pump worked for him and we decided to call it quits as it was starting to get dark. Day 2 was trail 15, then school bus, drove around for a bit, then came back around and played on rattle rock. Rigs started dropping like flies and I wasn't able to get tires on it as it was 5pm and I would have been the last one up, and the guy at the front had a broke birf, so called it. Need to hit that trail one day, looks awesome. Yesterday was trail 41, then the first 1/4 of 44, hit the brushy mountain State penitentiary, then bought wheeled from there back to the house. Drove it home today. I broke a mirror on school bus, and got some new doors in exchange for some beer from a friend, awesome time!
Someone got a drone, and as dorky as they they, are pretty neat. Let's see if this works, this is one of the climbs on 41.

Saw this type of pump on sale for 40 at lowes

Rattletock is either you pick a good line at the start and you just stroll out the top. Or, it'll knock your dick in your watch pocket for the next 3 hours.

Hence why I didn't hit the trail right before sundown . Definitely want to spend all day on it one weekend though, looks fun!

Post trip breakdown:
1) I now have extra doors so I can put a new drivers side door on and see what more I need to do to straighten the cab
2) it needs a windshield, anyone near hickory want to lean how to replace a windshield with me? A pillar is bent back, once I get the old windshield out, I'll pry on it with the winch.
3) the cab floor hits the front driveshaft yoke with two people in it, this is a new one. Maybe I need new body mounts?
4) rear shocks are probably at the end of life, it bucks like crazy on connector trails. I should at least check the nitrogen on them
5) it needs a cage, probably early next year, most likely going internal with the body tied to the cage
6) I have become a huge pussy when it comes to offcamber, I need to get my confidence back

I wonder why my door hits my slider now.

This square tube welded to the cab as a slider is probably my biggest regret on this truck, with cutting big ass holes in the bed for longer shocks being a close second. I'm seriously considering putting a frame attached slider back on it when I put a cage on the truck over the winter/spring.

Updated the first post with the design, constraints and build goals for this thing if anyone cares to read it. Should frame out why I did some of the things I did with the truck.

Finished another wheeling season off with a trip to AOP this weekend. It was cold and sloppy so a lot of banging it off the rev limiter, so it was a good time. I bought an axel off-road helmet on sale for black friday and it has awoken some sort a demon inside me when it's on . It's gonna be interesting once I get a cage in it early next year. I'll post pics once I get them, I took none, but damage report:
Center bearing on the rear driveshaft decided to kill itself this trip, the drive home was like sitting in a massage chair for 5hrs. I slid off a rock and into a tree and messed up my tailgate pretty good. I need new body mounts and my floor is now sitting on top of the tcase, and I have some frame repair to do after I found some rust holes bolt checking it before the trip. Going to be a busy winter of body repairs, replacing the windshield, and getting the door to fit back on it the right way. Hope to get an exo on it spring or early summer. I also need some new tires at some point next year.
