Yikes! Keep that arm inside bro! Grab the steering wheel, your harness/seat belt, the door handle, your dingaling…anything other than putting your hand out.

Oh I know, hard to fight that instinct.

You right…it is hard to fight it. You must have been subconsciously thinking “I won’t have this problem if I just do the ol left arm delete mod” 🤣 There’s probably a write up on that somewhere on Al Gore’s great innernet.

Joking aside - glad you’re alright. And now you’re an esteemed member of the prestigious “I rolled my shit at uwharrie” club. Welcome! Glad you’re here. Time to plan the next club meeting.

LOL!!! At least it would have been my left, double whammy if it was my right LOL!! A meeting is for sure needed. My wife watched the video and busted out laughing at me "out of all the crazy stuff you have wheeled on, you roll it on something almost flat" thanks babe

Thinking about cutting this wrinkled section above the door out, pushing the roof out and welding it back in, or even getting a new one from Toyota. Most of the damage has been done post flop pushing the roof up with the hilift after getting it back over and then me pushing and banging on it with the porta power. I assume this is part of the cab crash structure, what does the equally unqualified forum members think? Am I going to kill myself and a bus load of nuns?

Medium term plan is probably an exo cage for this truck since I still street drive it and don't want to be banging off an internal cage in this small cab.

It's not going to win any best in show awards, but the door shuts now, the window goes all the way up and the "V" is just about gone

I need a new door, but it's good enough for summer wheeling season and until one falls in my lap. I think the A pillar has a slight bend, I'm going to try to fix that later in the year, probably right around the time I'm going to replace the windshield.

Figuring out a cage for this thing will be my Web wheeling adventure for the next few months. Cabs too small for an internal and exo cages suck. I want to build a hybrid internal/exo cage for it (exo halo over the cab). The webwheelers on irate4x4 called me an idiot so I that means it's probably a good idea

A hybrid cage with the b pillar stuck through the roof and inside the cab gives you a harness bar too.

That was my thoughts as well! I don't use the extra cab for anything besides dry storage for my sleeping bag and overnight bag when wheeling, I can strap that to a waterproof bag on the halo if need be. I also like a nice big X behind me rather than outside and across the back of the cab. Plus there is not a straight line on these cabs, so exos are a PITA to make look right, and even the best ones still look like ass on these.

Biggest issue, to me, with a std exo, the B-pillar hanging up on trees and such when youre trying to slide by. Im in the same boat, B-pillar inside the cab, to a halo over top, and A pillars tucking back into the fenders.

Yup. That coupled with the lack of support structure right over your head if you ended up on the roof, meaning a tube rolled, or bent, long b pillar that looks like it would be ready to fold up.

I also like this truck looking kind of like a regular truck, well a very beat up one, and not a straight up crawler, I think if I pull it off right, it could look like a roof rack on top of it. I should slap a Thule sticker on the halo

A friends of mine fj80 who did something similar who I have been getting advice from: Builds - Joez's Built Thread/Recap. Hybrid Cage, 4Ds
Street driven fj80 crawler on 40s.

Interior is back in the truck, all it needs in a bath and a bolt check and I'm ready for the ranch in 2 weeks.

File this in the "why didn't I think of this" category, but saw this on a terra crew pre runner walk around vid. Took the spare belts out of the tool bag, and zip tied them under the hood to the fender behind the cruise control module. No more having them get tangled on damn near evrey tool I have when searching for stuff on the trail.

Ranch was good, didn't wheel it as much as I wanted to as it was me and 8 buggies and they wanted to hit all the buggy stuff, but it was fun anyway! My winch took a shit, I'm pretty sure my 20yr old solenoids finally shit the bed, going to upgrade it to a contactor because the internet said it's better.

Rode in a buggy most of the weekend, and confirmed I have no desire to ever own one haha!! I like my AC.

I wish they had these when I originally tossed the winch in the truck, crazy how small this is!

Debating if I'm doing an in cab controller or just using a remote.
I ran my remote in the cab and attached to my cutting brake lever.
I don't use my winch much. Only when I wheel with @ghost :D

They are so much better than solenoid packs in every way. I would wire up an in cab switch AND wire up the remote plug somewhere near the front of the truck in case you find yourself in a precarious situation where you need to be outside of your truck to winch.

I bought everything to overhaul the winch, even the fancy aeroshell grease, and I'm out in the garage waiting for some charcoal to heat so I hook the controller up, wiggle it and it works, figures LOL. Looks like I have a loose pin in the controller. I think I'm going to pull the winch off anyway and rebuild it. It's been on the truck since 2005 and the drum is rusting very badly, may as well do some maintenance and modernize it a bit.

Which flag decal will you put in the back glass?
Ukraine, Palestine, Mexico or Iran?
Hahaha, back glass is good!! For now the "where the heck is wall drug" and "leaf springs party harder" is all that's on there and staying.

What's the flag for I hope they all lose?

My DD Avalon blew a brake line while my wife was driving it, so while I wait on parts, the Tacomas going back into DD duty. I was planning on pulling the winch off, so I did that today. The plans are to replace the solenoids with a contactor, install a new remote plug, install an in cab controller, replace the drum, and clean and re grease the gear box.

Solenoids are not bad considering they have been on the front of my truck since 2005 and a good portion of that was in DD duty getting blasted with road salt every winter.
