2nd Annual Uwharrie 4x4cross Jamboree - May '09

Well Crap the 23-25 is the weekend I had planned to go to Rausch wheeling..

Being Memorial Day weekend lots of folks already have plans for heading to the beach/ other trips that weekend.

The weekend prior to the scheduled one is Mothers Day weekend (Surprise mom!)

We hammered out the majority of the details sunday, I'm gonna wait till the website is up to let you all know though so I dont have to answer the same questions here over and over again. Our website guy has been sucking so bear with us we've been trying to light a fire under his butt for a while here now :shaking:

As far as the event date we're leaning like 95% toward the holiday weekend 22-24th that way we can keep the events going through Sunday and not worry about having to get back monday to work, I'll let ya'll know 100% within a few days on the date

So do you have a definite date yet?

Have it in april!I deploy in may!

Hey Ricky, what's the deal with the site? I wanted to see how many class A drivers there were and it only shows one. Not updated yet? I am thinking super hard about buying some POS beater to race class A with...

I'm getting like 20 billion emails a day about racer classes and whatnot (almost 50% of them are asking about nitrous :driver: )

But so far not many paying entries, figure everyone is just waiting till the last minute like usual :shaking:

Hey Ricky, I have talked to a few racers from last yr. That said they would'nt be racing this year because of the nitros in any class rule. And the ''up to 37 in. tire size in ''b'' class. The nitro is what it is, but the up to 37s in B class seems a little off to me. IMO that should be cut down to 35s in B class. Ther is a huge difference from 35 to 37 when it comes to trail rigs and the guys I talked to thought their 35s would fail to the 37's.
Just thought I would throw that out there. Keep up the good work, and I am looking foward to this yrs event, even if I'm just a spectator! I am trying to put together a deal with a local shop that will allow me to race this year. We will see.:driver:

I'll be honest, I'm waiting until AFTEr the April 11 "Open ride/rep-run" date.
As of thsi moment I know NOTHING about the course, what kidn of obstacles, kind of driving, etc etc. I want to see it and have an idea of what I'm getting in to, and if I have ANY snowball's chance in hell in either (a)surviving the course and (b) being competitive - before I commit to it.

I think it was a bit different last year b/c people knew the trail already and had a feeling for what they were in for.

Re: nitrous - I agree w/ Dylan. To me the the joy of thsi show is that eveyrday guys w/ ildly built weekend warrior toys can show up and have fun. Allowing that kind of power in all classes really panders to the guys that have spent heavily on a racing rig.

These are the kinda things you guys shoulda told me from the get go when you first read the rules :shaking:

I have no problem changing the tire size part since I don't have but a few signed up and they won't be affected. All though IMO there is absolutely no difference or advantage between a 37" and 35" tall tire in any offroad situation - but then again I don't trail ride, really don't like to trail ride, and I trust Dylan, so if he says there's a big difference then I'll go with it.

Im the kinda guy that builds the rig big, and hammers down hard when I wheel cause I have a crowd watching (ie: trying to impress females) and the trailer is only feet away that the broke rig can be loaded onto with a tractor or other kind of outside assistance, and then later fixed at home at my leisure. IMO i don't see the point in potentially breaking your rig, that you have so much time/money invested into, doing something way back in the woods by yourself somewhere and then having to try and fix it. I absolutely hate working on vehicles in general, especially in the woods in the middle of nowhere, but then again thats me, this event is targeted to the everyday guy - or at least the A throu C class is, not me in particular.

The only other problem I have is that I have been telling people nitrous is ok and I don't want to turn around and change that after people have already installed it on their rigs. Granted, I don't have anyone signed up that I think it will affect but I'm sure I will get some people mad if I change that now. My thought pattern there was that:
1. anyone can throw a 50 shot of nitrous on there rig and not hurt it
2. anyone with a beater who enters and really doesn't care will be funny to watch when they spray too much and blow up their motor
3. I really don't see nitrous to be much of an advantage, its no different than the v8 vrs. 4 n 6 cylinder issue, there are enough obsticles/humps/switchbacks/etc to not really let the v8 open up and have that big advantage over the smaller engined rigs

please feel free to comment back, I'll change the tire size thing no prob, but like I said if i change the nitrous thing, which at this point I don't know if I can, its gonna be an issue . . .

I'm not running nitrous, and none of the other guys are that I know of are, according to the website, I'm the only one in A, your the only one in B, no one in C, I don't think Rob Usnick in D is gonna run nitrous(correct me if I'm wrong). I don't know about you and the other guy in D. Unless their are a big ton of straights nitrous aint gonna matter much, but I agree it is a little overkill for A and B. But I don't give a crap, I'm comin to run with a mostly stock rig, but you can bet its gonna be bouncin' of the rev limiter without the help of NOS.

My only suggestion would be make A and B class doable with 33's and let potential racers know it. That way Joe six pack in his budget lift TJ, XJ, or TOY can feel good about his chances at finishing the course and having a good time without fubaring his DD. Don't forget it was A and B class that had the majority of the racers last time.

This is where I'm coming from too.
I think alot of folks will come to see just how much people can/will push am ostly stock rig - IMO that's the fun challenge.
That's what people remember - and what "Joe 6 pack" wants to see - that for only $2k he too can have a very capable vehcile and alot of fun. He shows up as a spectator, and this is te hkind of thing that spurs him on to go buy that first lift and knobby tires for his TJ etc.

Ok, I mean, i can get rid of the nitrous thing if that scares people away, I would prefer not to though because I have had the specific question about installing nitrous and if its ok from several people and that would suck if they dropped coin on nitrous and installed it on my word just to have it changed, but I really don't think nitrous is going to give you much of an advantage on our course.

but I have said multiple times that the course is designed with bypasses for the A and B class's, I mean A class is pretty much a stock vehicle, the course they run can't physically be really challenging or they will get stuck, which defeats the point of a race if people are getting stuck.

I thought that had been made very clear already . . . is that really what everyone is worried about?

I agree, people don't know what they are getting into and haven't seen the track. where as from what I understand, last year everyone already knew the course and knew what there were getting themselves into. thats probably why sign ups are slow

Come on people, lets chat it up some!

Whos going? Whos racing?

I would love to see more sign ups.

I mean, if the possibility of me getting to race is scaring yall, thats totaly understandable. If it makes ya feel better, i will race with one foot flat on the floor, and yall can use both feet.heck, i will even wear my shoes on the wrong foot and leave em' untied. Come on folks, whos in? Nitrous dont scare me...this aint no drag strip.
