2nd chance buggy

I like it Guffey!

Powder coating relieves the stress from being welded, but is a real pain to touch up from what I have seen, unless you go with a easy to match color like black.

But, what ever you decide, can't wait to se it on the trail!

I think I am going to go with hammered black for the chassis color, haven't decided on the skins yet

you can't weld spring steel it will stress fracture not trying to be a ass just don't want to see that atlas or something come apart lol

Thanks for the information
Thats probably enough weld that it will be fine, but @@BNBOFFROAD is right. I've tried to make things from TJ springs before, and even with 3/4" of weld, it popped loose under light force (less than 100lbs).

yea i mean give it a shot just check on it while your wheeling :driver:

Well I bit the bullet, got a good price to blast it and powder coat it, went with silver vein

It's hammered silver with a black vein

Wow im surprised
We use the same people for axle housings and control arms on streetrods and restoration builds and when I started discussing my chassis and its intended use they actually talked me out of it.
Pretty much come down to when it starts getting scraped off it just leads to a big mess to try to clean back up. But I will say they do excellent work and cheaper than most people would think.
What was your quote on the silver vein? I have only done solid colors.

He gave me an awesome price, $750 to blast, prep and powder coat, the guy I talked to said the hammered finishes are more resilient than some others

I had several other companies quote me $600 to just blast it

I think the silver will be a little easier to match up

I cut it in three different spots, one where the bolt connects it, one where it connects to the tube at the bottom all welded up, and one on the opposite side, had to cut it down to make it fit, so hopefully I took some of the recoil out of it

we will see what happens, I have already talked to Mud about making me one

Green panels.
Or orange.
I only said that to piss you off! Now, stay with the red and gray theme.
It was your dream, let it roll.

Blue would look really good on the panels
Are you planning to go with the pre painted sheets on the panels?
If so b&h in Asheville can get them for a decent price so thats what im going with on Bernadette.
