All this rain, where better to but in the garage??

In the bed... with a good lookin woman. That’s where I’ve been.

... or in the bed with sinus infection and common cold... blah blah.

But progress has resumed...

Grill location is nailed down. Slightly forward on the bottom for more radiator clearance, and to get the hood line down a bit.

Bunch off random stuff. No great direction yet. Seat is ready for fitting for the owner; in order to determine pedal placement, roof height, sight line over dash/hood.

The front clip is outlined and mapped out. I I have a pretty comprehensive grasp of how I will proceed the entirety of the build now. Once David drops by for some measurements and approval of a few details I have in mind, Katie bar the doors....

Obviously my tube work is very go-fast inspired, but once all the other pieces take shape, she'll be quite attractive and pleasing to the eye.

This looks killer! Great work.

Nice. Really glad to see a cage not turned into some swoopy arts and crafts experiment.

Form/Function.

Come on now, a little arts & crafts are what make it all interesting.

What a combination! Two artists that I am proud to call my friends building another masterpiece that I can't wait to see up close. I envy the talent!

Nice! Looking forward to seeing where this one goes.....

What’s with all these pictures in broad daylight? Since when do you sleep at night?

@mcutler I recall you saying your not a big fan of bending tube, on this jeep cage is the only long bent tube the one from A pillar to the rear?? I may have to rescan the mache build I just noticed that you section the tube! Is it faster to notch/section it for you then bend? I despise bending myself hence why I'm asking... lol

Correct. From tip of dash to b post then b post to fender. Splices are fine if sleeved and rosette welded correctly, then supported behind a gusset.

So instead of bending one tube 2 times you have two tubes bent once and welded together? What is the advantage besides a whole lot less math!? I'd love to see the proper way to section the tube. I would assume 1.75 would have 1.5 inserted into it with rosette welds on each side and then welded together. Close?

Yep, less math, which is not a problem for me, but the ease of working alone is why I choose this route.

About an 8" slug, with a couple 4 rosettes in each side in two planes. 3/16 gap, heavy bevel at the joint. Or you can buy the joint sleeve from TMR.

I don’t follow a lot of build threads, but thoroughly enjoy yours. I very much enjoyed the Manche thread.
Your fab work looks like something out of a Pro shop with every fancy machine/tool you could imagine, so it’s mind blowing knowing you do most of it with fairly common tools with a lot of time, thought and elbow grease. Especially the pieces you put holes in.

If I ever won the lottery, I’d bring you a pile of money with a small list of what I want and let you get creative with everything else.
