500HP YJ Build

I would recommend going to predator carb if you want to stick with the carb... otherwise FI or LPG Would be good choices.

After doing a little more research, I think you're right about the Predator. Going to see if I can find one.

Been doing some wheeling and dealing to finance this build and the time has finally come to get started full throttle!!

Talked with Kieth at Newcomer racing and he'll be doing the machine work on the motor. The bottom has chaged slightly. Instead of a 406 I'll end up with a 383 DE-stroker. Will be running TRW forged flat tops, Scat 5.7 rods with ARP caps screws, and nodular iron crank. Should be good to about 7000rpm and due to the shorter stroke, will be easier on the block and parts. Will also cost a LOT less than orignally planned since I already have the parts to build it instead of going with a forged 406 rotating assembly. That bad news is I'll lose some torque but hopefully the loose convertor will make up for that.

With the money saved from going a different direction on the motor, I'll use the to run a 203/205 doubler.

Have to finish up rebuilding a XJ for a buddy then will be able to get started on it, should be Monday ish. The plan is still to have this thing ready for the Flats in April.

Finally got something done today. Moved some axles around and pulled the drag truck outta the shed for the first time in over a year and pulled the motor, msd box, 2 step, tach, and fuel pump. Tearing the motor down tomorrow then hauling to to Newcommer Wednesday and picked up a doubler set up I got from Paul, that redneck's bad for my wallet. lol.

Got the motor torn down today, heading to Newcomer tomorrow. Thankfully no major damage, other than a oil pan full of antifreeze from I blown head gasket I knew about. Also two of my valve seals decided to come apart and end up in the oil pan. No clue why that happened.

Rear gears, master install's, and SBC swap radiator came in the mail the other day.

Nice build. I bet this thing will be fun once that motor is hitting the redline, lol.

Couldn't find it but what are the plans for the drag truck now?

Not 100% sure TBH, working out a trade with a buddy to get a fairly mild 305. Thinking about putting that back in the truck, cutting the cage out and putting the interior back in it and making a parts runner/sunday cruiser. Its first vehicle so its not going anywhere, way too many good memories from high school and college.

Maybe your yj will keep up with my tj now Griggs

I dunno man, its hard to keeps up with a 4" RC lift, 33's, and open diffs on the worlds most awesome TJ. lol.

Loaded up the 3/4 ton Honda and heading to Newcomer to drop the motor off today. Had one SBC with the rotating assembly, one bare block, and the heads in there. lol. From Newcomer, heading to Paul's place and picked up the doubler set up, Thanks gangsta! Also called Andy at Ironman 4x4 and had him make me some custom motor mounts and a few other brackets, yall need to him a call for all you random parts need. Awesome guy to deal with!

Tomorrow's plan is to get started on gearing the axles, Hopefully have that done by Friday evening the sparks will start to fly Saturday!

4.5 inch and 35's to be exact buddy. Lmao

Slight change in plans. Heading to the Dayton ECORS race tomorrow so decided not to start on the axles till I get back. Finally found a set of 15x10 8x6.5 wheels, going to pick those up Sunday.

For those that've been asking about a trans cooler, I think I have it covered now. lol. Measures 24"x18"

Just bring over a keg of beer and you can use the tubing bender. Damn I need to get a tractor. Wanna sell it!

I figure ill make a trip over at some point in the next week and take a peak at your accumulation.

Just gimmie a call. I've more parts in more places than I can shake a stick at.

Picked up another piece of the puzzle while I was at the ECORS race. While back, I won a 50% off coupon from Trail Tubes on facebook. Picked up a set a tube fenders from them. Also, some others parts have been coming in from Barnes4wd, ECGS, Dave's Off Road Supply, and Ironman. Waiting on a buddy to show up to give me a hand moving my Dana 60's to start gearing them tonight.

Your bender priviledges might get revoked if you only bring a 6pak! LOL ...that only gets you in the garage!

Well got some bad new from Newcomer on the motor today. The 377 rotating assembly I have is pretty much junk, really didn't expect to hear that. New plan is the put the 406 back together with the stock rotating assembly with new bearings and rings, keep the rpm's under 6000 and hope its doensn't explode. Pretty bummed about that but it what it is.

Damn.

Well, more "great" news from Newcomer. Have a few broke springs on my heads so they'll all need to be replaced. Funny how a good running motor can be so close to exploding. Heading to go pick all my junk up sometime in the near future and go back to the drawing board.

Bummer! What now? Honda 4cyl swap?

You should be smacked for even suggesting such stupidity. :flipoff:

Honestly not sure at this point. The heads will get a new set of springs for sure. Business is starting to pick up with URE opening back up so might have a little more dough than I thought. I have a few ideas brewing just need to do a little more digging before I make up my mind.
