500HP YJ Build

I hope that you plan to run a tranny temp gauge. 2800 seems really high for what we do, but your cooler might keep it cool enough if it can move enough air across it.

Plan on running a XJ fan mounted to it. Tranny temp gauge might happen. TBH, don't have much faith in this trans last that long, came outta mud truck.

Well, this thing had been nothing but a huge pain in the ass. Running way behind schedule. Just finished putting the motor together, that took WAY longer than planned. Had two head bolts pull the threads outta the block torquing the heads down, that mean a trip to autozone, was checking piston to valve clearance and realized I lost my solid lifters so had to wait till the AM to get those, knock the dial indicator off the head and it stopped working, when to a buddies and borrowed one, turn out the borrowed one was bad as well. Smacked the on that fell againist the vice and it decided to start working again. :kaioken: Friday evening, got the 60 ready to go in, went to the the spring plate bolts and one of the bolts going into the the housing pulled the threads out, stilll trying to figure out what to do there. Went to but the rollers on and realized 1 ton's run 9/16" studs which means I need 32 new lug nuts. :kaioken: Thankfully, Snappy had a 4 I was able to borrow so the rollers are kinda on. On a good note, the old rear end is pulled out, and the spring hangers and shackles are cut off the frame. Getting ready to start re-gearing the 14 bolt. Hopefully have that in tomorrow.

Young Jedi, as i have said before...
Problems will arise, DO NOT cut corners on the build!
Bite you in the ass it will.
Looks good Chris.
Obi Wan out.
:)

Well thing with the 14 bolt didn't go as planned. Realized you need a 1 1/2 socket which I didnt have. Picked up a socket and new water pump at the parts store this morning. Tried to crush the crush sleeve on the 14 bolt with no luck, maxed out my 12 ton press and nothing, that sucker doesn't budge easily. Heading to a buddy's shop tomorrow to take care of that. After that, decided to put the alt and P/S pump on the motor. Ditching the electric water pump idea due to bracket being a pain to find. Got all that installed and got to work on the rear suspension. Moved the spring hangers back about 6" and the shackle hangers 2.5" to fix my shackle angle in the rear, think it turned out pretty good. Also, motor mounts from Andy at Ironman4x4 came in.

Have pretty much made up my mind, that I'm just not going to make it to The Flatts this weekend, shocker right? lol. Was getting to the point building this thing that I was stressing myself out constantly and not enjoying the build at all. After that, things seemed to go much smoother for some reason.

Those rear rotors are going to pulsate, you'll need to machine them before you drive it.

Chris you gonna be able to make the Flats? That would be something lol.

hell yea chris the yj is lookin great!
Thanks man.

What's the estimated finish time. I would come check it out. But I'll prolly try to steal all your shit. Being I'm black and all. Lol
Lmao! Thought we taught you better than that! You got my number man, if I'm not sleeping, I'm working on it.

Lol, I'll keep that in mind when I get to that point. Might try and get tags on this thing at some point.

Sat morning about 7 am with a quick tie up of loose ends at the flats about 10 am would be my guess!!
I wish man, but that would require more time or a whole crew of mexicans to help me out. lol.

Chris you gonna be able to make the Flats? That would be something lol.
I'll prob try and make it up there, could use a day off on this thing.

Made a lot of porgress in the last couple of day. Tuesday, got the trans and 203 seperated from the donor motor. Tore the doubler down and swapped the parts over the 203 from behind the th350 and got everything cleaned up. Also, after cleaning the junk off the trans, found out it had been rebuilt at some point, had a sticker from Accurate Transmission. Today, got the motor, trans, and 203 mated together and in the Jeep! Since I'm going to run a flat belly, cut a massive hole in the floor. Used to rachet straps hanging from the cage to hoist the 205 into postion and get it bolted up. Spent a few hours measuring and checking things then started fabbing the motor mounts. Was able to use the headers from the drag truck! I think they'll clear the front shaft but not sure yet, fit perfect other than that, collectors are even with the frame rails. Looking like I'm going to run into some hood clearance problems, high rise single plane intake plus a double pumper and air filter looks really tight. Rear drive shaft angle looks pretty decent, should be around 30" long give or take, front is fine, roughly 4 foot long.

Stopped by for a few yesterday... Was really expecting the clearance on the doubler to be alot worse, really didn't lose as much floor as I would have thought. Looks good though for sure, fast progress.

Figure its about time for a update. Been working on this thing non-stop still. Got the motor mounts braced, have the trans cross member almost done, triple sticks are in, fuel pumps in and new fuel lines are ran, mounted the fan up, mounted and plumbed power steering cooler, got started on the wiring should have the finished up tomorrow for the most part, MSD box is mounted and 2-step module, got the new steering box in and fabbed up a new drag link. Ran into some issues on my hydro assist. Picked up a tractor ram set up from a buddy a while back, turns out one of the fittings is going to hit the bottom the leaf spring, those things are big and the mounts on the axle don't line up at all. Deffently going to have a cut a hole in the hood for the air cleaner. If things go according to plan, this things should be making noise in the very near future!!! Also, big thanks to spraypaintman for letting me borrow his plasma cutter, made life a lot easier making the t-case mounts.
