90's throw back.....Manche build

Got started on the hidden steps today, and the rub rail is tacked on. Once I get the passenger side to this point I will raise the cab for the last time. Then the rails will get completed, (cause I hate lying on my back to work...), and the remainder of the areas of the cab that need final prep will be addressed. Once the cab is back down, tubing will commence.

Concrete is corrosive. Moisture wouldn't be to good over long term and all metal is porous. Welding around it later for repairs would be the devil. I built concrete forms for several years. Long term exposure to non treated standard alloy steel is bad news.....Matt these little design ideas kick ass.

good article on whys and what for in common language....

Rubs are plated, painted-(in the areas that will never see sunlight again), and done. Can is back down and about half way welded up. There are a couple inches of weld that I'm not happy with, they will be ground out and redone.

What day are you expecting he'll arrive on-site? I'm thinking he should roll in on Wednesday afternoon.
Lol, yea, that way if shit goes all to hell, I can be back home for the rest of the weekend.

I'm a little worried about articulation with the rear frame section welded to the axle housing like that and I'm sure the upper heims will hold up, but I think for double shear brackets to actually work, both sides need to be attached.

.... J/K this thing is awesome
