Am I being a Dumbass?

This circus is hitting the road Friday morning. Gonna make the best out of this little road trip. I've sold the 3rd members from my Toyota axles to a guy meeting me in Memphis on my way out. They're both in 5 gallon buckets already loaded on the truck. Stopping in Vegas Sunday night because Lil Sis has never been and wants to check it off the bucket list. High class room at The Aria, probably a steak dinner, and some kind of show. California early Monday morning to load the chassis. Extra 12 miles to the coast to dip our toes in the Pacific. Pretty much all business on the return trip. I am stopping in Memphis again to pick up a set of brand new Raceline's I bought off of Hardline. Truck is already full of fuel and DEF, fluids topped off, and tires pressed up. Got locks, straps, tools, 2 spare tires, junk food, and a gun. I'll maintain a dollar amount and post it up so if there's any "I told you so" comments I'm due afterwards. I'll try to post up a few pics along the way. Wish me luck and safe travels.

You have no idea how jealous I am!! I dont even know you and was trying to figure out a way to get in on this lol Good luck and safe travels!!

Will you be posting here or somewhere else? Safe travels!

I’ll post it here. I don’t do book of faces, twatter, or insta. Y’all all I got.

Trip of a lifetime! Keep us posted. Best story I ever read was on hardline when this guy flew to Texas to buy an old RV and drive it back to Alabama, and it wasn’t in the shape he thought. It was the most epic story, and he met some amazing people!

What’s the name of that thread? That was so good I’d like to read it again!

I bet it was removed. Kel deleted all of his posts right before he left Hardline.

What? That sucks! I don’t frequent hardline (hardly at all) but have had intentions of reading that again for a while!

Yah, butthurt issues, so his account and his content was zapped at his request. There is a four page thread about it. Hopefully @BigSouth will have just as great a story to tell!!

At least this time of year you don’t have to worry about your truck being covered in bug guts!

As long as that trade off doesn’t cover my truck with snow. I’d gladly take bugs. They don’t shut down roads.

But no one is on closed roads

I was In PA 15-16yrs ago when a big snow storm shut down I-81 in VA the day I was leaving. I had to work the next day so the truck got put in 4wd and off we went, on 81, with no traffic lol. That 8.5hr drive took us 16hrs as it was snowing on the whole east coast.

Day 1 went off without a hitch. Left Shelby around 9:30 AM, made my stop in Memphis to drop off the Toyota 3rds, and we’re now stopped at a hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas. Truck is doing great. Computer says we’re averaging 19.9 mpg. So far I’m $60 into a fuel stop and a $70 hotel stay.

Dang man, what's wrong with your truck? I've been told the Cummings will get about 30mpg highway ;)

That’s on the return trip loaded down and pulling uphill.

Photobombing Lil Sis on Route 66!

Day 2 is in the bag. 950 miles puts me about an hour past Albuquerque, NM. The winds of Oklahoma SUCK... the fuel that is. Combine that with a 75 mph speed limit and the legendary Cummins gets quite thirsty. I’m barely clinging to a 15 mpg average at the moment. $225 in fuel and an $85 hotel stay. Back at it in the morning for a short ride into Vegas to unwind for a night.
