Am I being a Dumbass?

I second the connex container idea, but a 20ft container, load the chassis into the container and have it shipped, once its here you have a badass shed. They are also pretty easy to move around when empty.

They are about 5000lbs of solid steel. But other than the weight and being the size of a lifted crewcab one ton truck, they are pretty easy to move around...

My jeep drug the one we have around, just put it on wooden runners so it wouldn't dig into the ground. Didn't even have to use the winch.

They are 5k, but they are 8.5 x 20 so its only like .2 lb/in2. They slide remarkably easy

@BigSouth it looks like my option of the conex shipping isn’t going to line up with your timeline. He doesn’t have anything on the books for 2019 making it this way that would work for ya. If something changes he’s going to let me know though.

I appreciate you trying. I’m not upset about driving out there. It’s been the plan since the beginning. I’ve vetted all the options I know to try and it just comes down to an old fashioned road trip. NC to CA back to NC in 6 days. Hell of a story for the grandkids...

If it weren't peak time at the salt mines for me, I'd go just to talk smack about Shawn and Ron and see how many of Paul's guns we could lose in various bodies of water across the US :huggy:

Oh yeah..and "east bound and down" stories for the kids

Heck with the naysayers. Seems like a great time to drive to Cali and pick up a chassis with your truck! I know how much time you Duke boys get off. Gotta find something to do with it!

Dude, I’m 50 state legal! Had the trailer rated for 16K (it’s on the tongue) and my truck is rated for 10K. I’m 1 pound shy of that CDL limit. Come to think of it, you’re the one that warned me about this sitting at a certain Highway 55 burger joint. Called the manufacturer the very next Monday.

? the gvwr on that dodge is less than 10K?

I thought a newer truck would be higher. My 04 is 9100 it about out weighs its own capacity lol

Specs are what they are. Mines the auto. If you wanna put that ‘04 to the test, I got a real trailer you can pull...

I see on the chart where the added weight of the clutch pedal lowers the tow capacity 1060 pounds.
That's a heavy pedal

Yeah, those clutches will really slow you down.

Hindsight is 20/20 but if you leave today, you could pick it up and stop at KOH 2019 on your way back.

Funny you mention 20/20 because the reason for delaying the trip is because I just had PRK laser surgery on both eyes yesterday. I’ll have a solid 5 weeks of recovery under my belt before I make the run. Still 3 weeks shy of what the Dr calls a “full recovery”.

This circus is hitting the road Friday morning. Gonna make the best out of this little road trip. I've sold the 3rd members from my Toyota axles to a guy meeting me in Memphis on my way out. They're both in 5 gallon buckets already loaded on the truck. Stopping in Vegas Sunday night because Lil Sis has never been and wants to check it off the bucket list. High class room at The Aria, probably a steak dinner, and some kind of show. California early Monday morning to load the chassis. Extra 12 miles to the coast to dip our toes in the Pacific. Pretty much all business on the return trip. I am stopping in Memphis again to pick up a set of brand new Raceline's I bought off of Hardline. Truck is already full of fuel and DEF, fluids topped off, and tires pressed up. Got locks, straps, tools, 2 spare tires, junk food, and a gun. I'll maintain a dollar amount and post it up so if there's any "I told you so" comments I'm due afterwards. I'll try to post up a few pics along the way. Wish me luck and safe travels.

Good luck, good times & good travels. There's 1 gallon of def if you stop at my shop if it doesn't sour over time.. is it does, what's proper disposal? Toilet because it's piss?

The shitbox train is rolling south Friday morning. If you happen to see us on 81 or 40 give us a honk or a bird :flipoff2: good luck on the trip :stupid:
