The right side going upstream from Avents Ferry is game land so free camping. I love to fish below Buckhorn dam in that area and have caught several decent flat heads on rod and reel out of a jon boat and bank fishing within sight the dam.

If ya below the damn looking for blues, float some bass minnows under a big cork with a #5 or bigger circle hook and hang on.
 
If I get to fish any I'll let you know may hit it up at night one of the nights we're there if you wanna meet up to and get a line wet!
 
Amen to that waters so low here fish can't move to spawn beds as usual, didn't get a good fall flood or early spring! Hopefully it picks up soon I'm trying for the 50" club this season!!
 
New personal best large mouth 5.2lbs I didn't get to stoked bc it's prespawn im sure she full of eggs but still awesome day on new river while it's flooded!! 3bass all over 15" this one was 20"

We just had a really bad flood and weathers been so strange I'm not sure if spawns on or off... I missed 4 big bass today bc of aggression strikes caught one but barely hooked in tip on mouth so they protecting the beds which aren't in but 1-3 ft of water! Spawn for flatties is usually later tho in new iirc
 
Always wanted to try fly fishing so I went and bought a cheap setup from Dunham's the other day. Took me a few minutes to get to where I could half ass cast the fly out into the water. But it didn't take long before I caught this big brim. Now I'm hooked and can't wait to go back for more. They sure do put up a fight on a fly rod.

Well boys I've had record high water and record bass caught in last few weeks been a damn blast on the New broke a rod on this 4.9lb 24" small mouth fri but abu Garcia gonna warranty it and I hand lined the hog in to the bank!
 
Only 20" but solid 5lb and it's post spawn so wasn't full of baby's! Was in a pile of trees from the flood I mean heavy cover ya could walk on lol!

22" was skinny one tho maybe 3lbs don't even weigh em now if they feel under 4lb...
