As of now there is some space available if you want to head to CA with Team ECORS #4418/#418

We are expecting to pick up an RV while out there but we may change it up and get a decent one here and tow the trailer with it. It really depends on what kind of deals I can get here in the next week, etc.

So, I anticipate 1-2 spots open, maybe more if we pick up an RV in NC and take it with us out there.

If you want to go, let me know. The more that can go the cheaper it'll be for everyone :D its not free, I'd expect whoever goes to help out with some of the costs of the RV rental, etc. but, it'll be very affordable considering the cross country trip and much cheaper than doing it by yourself or even roughing it and skimping on some things. And it will be one hell of a trip :)

PM me if you'd be up for taging along

PS, people that are already "tentative" need to let me know YES or NO, if not, your spot may get gone by someone that is a definite.

man I wish.

What do you estimate the cost to go is going to be? I know it depends on how many go, but any guesses? 1000, 1500 each?

I'm hoping to leave Feb 4, then the return is tentative depending on when everyone wants to leave. It will be either Sat the 13th or Sun the 14th. Sat is the awards banquet and from what I hear, there will be some good fun Saturday and Sat. evening on the lakebed. I'm open for whatever everyone else wants to do.
Cost are not quite set yet. If we get an RV here, we can take more people along and greatly reduce the individual cost but an RV at that many miles is quite a few $$$. So, we may just truck over to CA in a crew cab or Excursion and rent the RV there.
If we go the RV from NC route, it could be as cheap as $15/day per person depending on how many extra people we bring. If we go with the crew cab truck/excursion, I could see it being about $20 to $30/day as we can't take too many people along.
Everyone would be responsible for their own food and drinks. That makes it much easier. I'd anticipate that we'd all go in together and get a bunch of food or bring some with us and throw it in the cooler/fridge. I've got a ton of food that my wife won't eat, so I know I'm bringing a lot of that to use it up. If you are very thrifty with food and eating, I don't see food costing too much, especially if you can bring most of it with you or get it in a grocery store when we get out there. It could reasonably be assumed that food costs wouldn't be much, if any higher, than what you'd normally spend at home.
You shouldn't need anything but your clothes and sleeping blankets/bag and food and beer and a cooler. If you want to bring other things that would help out, that is OK too (like grills, lights, etc.) If you have an ATV or pit bike, we might could make room for it too so you have something to have fun with.
We are bringing 2 rigs with us, each has 2 seats. I'm not sure who is in the passenger seats of each of those yet but if there are more people than seats, I'm sure everyone will change out and take turns during pre-run. I'll also have an ATV, but that will be more for pit help, etc. as it is borrowed :)
Also, if you are good at fixing things with duct tape and ball point pens during a race, you may be called to lend a hand in the pits :D

If enogh ppl will go with the rv, Im def. in! ppl get in line plz!

Dylan,

looking like $200 or so each depending on how many go, plus your food and drink. However, that assuming a full load, so if we get half that, it would be a little more :)

As long as there is room, I'm definitely in for either option.
As soon as you have an idea if room, I'll take the time off from work. :)

If my folks RV could tow anything, we could take that. :D
(Of course it's a gasser so it would cost 334 million in gas to get there)

it's really too bad I'm the New Guy at work and don't have the vacation time, or i'd be going.
There's a bunch of guys from the Md Creepers going as well.

A diesel RV really doesnt get that much better MPG over a gasser, and gas is cheaper that diesel right now, so it would probably wash out. As far as towing, thats a different story.

Id love to go, but Im on vacation now and my other week is already dedicated to a big trip this summer. Have fun though.

thats right. And, many these days are gas unless you go to something super huge.

My wife is due in July with twins and my birthday is in Feb., so this is my birthday present to myself and a mad push to get the buggy finished and race it before the kids come  Once they are here, there prob. is no way I'll be able to make it back out to CA for a race... :)

Congrats dude!
And... you are very likely correct.

what you need is someone with a toterhome just sitting around collecting dust... ;)

I've owned several Rv's and it does make a difference between gas and deisel. Mine is 41 foot and gets 10 mpg and it does not care what I tow. gas will be lucky to get 6 to 7 towing nothing. And wait till you hit the headwinds(daily) and the "hills". N.C. doesen't have mountains compared to the otherside. Just trying to help.

I'm sorry :) I'm a twin and we were holly hell... I can definitely offer you some good 'twins' parenting advise.

Well, we sort of planned it that way. We want 2, so we get em both at the same time and don't have to worry with it again :)

I'm all ears for parenting advice, especially for twins! :D

i need to take a good look at my schedule, but if i can swing it i would love to go and would offer the use of my toter and 32ft. trailer if my part of the expenses was taken care of. the truck would need to be gone over well too before i would fully trust it on a trip that long since it has been sitting. there would probably need to be at least one other person capable of driving/shifting an otr style truck too...

Take a look and see. what kind of toter?

if a CDL is required, I think I could manage that. Been driving some otr trucks (usually cranes, etc.) some but never got around to getting my license :D
