Coming to Stoke's county NC

OK bro heres the deal. I run the superior super 35 kit. I have not broken anything in my axle since I put it in. Before I put it in I did bust a ring and pinion which was the reason for me putting the super 35 in it. Had I been better informed before hand I would have swapped in a different axle. The beefed up 35's will work fine under medium wheeling and 33" to 35" tires but when you get into the larger heavier tires the axle tubes will bend and mess some stuff up. Unless you have it trussed. I am done putting money into my 35 and am building an axle to swap into mine now. There is a jeep only web site out there that has pretty good info on it. If you are planning on building your Jeep join that forum also. You may be able to find some helpful info there.

ok... sounds to me like you were mis informed on some info. 4.88is the lowest gears for the D35.

And I'll give you this, a full floated D35 is better than a stock D35.... but it still has a weak housing. If you don't bust an axle shaft, you'll flex/bend the housing causing the spider gears to pop.

As for have I busted a R&P, nope. But when 9 out 10 broken axles I come across are D35's that sure tells me something.

It's no secret the D35 is weak. and there's no point in even TRYING to compare it to D44. Certainly not if there was even a 5.13 pinion for it. that Gear on the pinion would be so small and only have like 7 teeth on it.

besides that, if you don't know what exaclty you have and you're gonna spout off specs, then you best grow a thick skin. cause you're gonna get called out.

sorry to hear the guy took you on the info.

bitchin' - your a homo :flipoff2:
I sent you a pm, small fawkin world!

Um, you might want to mention that you never had tires bigger than a 33", or more importantly, a locker on it..

Just goes to show you, one person's definition of "beating on it" and another's, can be TOOOOTALLY different. Just about anything can live unlocked.

33" and a locked 35 w/ 4.56 gears. I never broke it either. But then I was light on the skinny pedal. It can be done. I ran red rated trails in Paragon with it.

Hey RedneckTJ never mind about Jeeps-offroad.com I forgot you are already a member there....DUH. You are one of Nate's buddies right?

Anyway Welcome to North Carolina when you get here.

Hey guys remember we all started somewhere and all he did was list what he was told about the Jeep he bought.

Ok so the Gist is:

"RedneckTJ" bought a Jeep was told it had something it did not.. and he is new and trying to learn about it...

He gets called out, so he openly says shit I am not really sure let me check..

I see no fault in aything he posted and give him props for addmitting he was not sure and that was what he was told....

Remember folks we all started as Newbies at one time and yes if you started with a stock Jeep you probably started with a dana35 rear or a 8.25 rear... so no need to Kill the Newbie yet :)

Welcome to NC

I'm so sorry. I will no longer point out the obvious. I am no longer going to bug you. And thanks for calling me a twit.

thanks for the support fella's!! glad to see someone understand me. I will be driving from eielson afb around jan 20th back to my hometown of sandyridge nc. I m gonna do some wheeling along the way down in wyoming with my buddy stationed down there.

yes i m nates buddy.

A couple of suggestions I will make for your wheeling enjoyment in NC. I learned the hard way when I moved from Michigan, so I do speak from experience. The wheeling here is TOTALLY different than the wheeling I've done in Michigan and Indiana. There are rocks here that will blow your mind on some of the trails, and most times they are covered in moss, leaves or thick peanut-buttery mud. Makes traction a thing of the past. So with that, you will need some wheel speed to make sure you knock the mud off your tires, or get some tires with large lugs on them like Swampers or IROKs. I think you are jumping the gun a bit looking at Rockwells, but they are the beef. They will make your rig as wide as a school bus, which can cause some problems on tight trails.

Personally, I'd hold off up-grading until you break something, but I'd also be prepared to break an axleshaft or a hub. Get spare parts for both because, while people in NC are VERY hospitable to people that break on the trail to help them fix their rigs, they are doing so to clear the trail and get you out of their way. I've seen guys running built rigs with what appear to be a Snap-On tool truck in the back. From portable welders and on board air to full shop-type presses in the back to set u-joints when they fail.

You will find a wealth of info on this board and some VERY knowledgable folks here. As with anything, when you come into a new area (new job, new school, new club, etc), if it appears that you have an attitude or an air about yourself that you are better than anyone else (which is kinda how I took your inital post), people will quickly try to shoot you down.

And a big HOOAH from a former tanker! Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the area.. www.triad4wda.org is also a place you will want to check out. (Follow the link from there to yahoo site, we have a real active email list)

As for the super 35....just something that causes the occasional flame war around here. Since you already have it....wheel it...maybe truss it as suggested for the extra strength.

I think "most" folks would tell you not to buy the kit, but again you already have it so no biggie. If you break it...then upgrade. If you want to upgrade first, SOMEONE will usually step up and buy the super 35 from ya....

Glad to see ya here! (I am down in Kernersville btw)

I agree with mangler, if you already got it, use it. When it breaks, upgrade! I started with a stock 35 then went to an 8.8, then D44, now D60. I never broke any of them, just never wanted to find out how bad it sucks to be stranded. It is an always changing/upgrading hobby.

Welcome, and good luck!
