patience grasshopper...it will be there for the race, then to GMP!

Chassis is ready for paint, spent ALL DAY prepping it. Plan on picking it all up Tuesday ...

Was powder coating ever an option?

absolutely. just wanted to wheel it a season, make sure i'm happy with all fab, and suspension works as desired. didn't wanna have to fight powdercoat to add or delete. next winter it will be broken back down for powder.

FINAL COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN

nothing super exciting today. got the garage cleaned and reorganized. clean all the fabrication trash off from all the new parts for reassembly. and started my rear axle truss. both axles will be completed tomorrow with brakelines and paint....and will definetly check the oil!

few pics-

i did'nt seee the need for an addition to mudpro's truss over the axle , but i did want a backstrap; with accomodations to remove cover obviously. there will be some plating added sunday; and of course some holes..:flipoff2:

plus a tow point for extraction or future addition of a suckdown winch

will have some pics of both axles under paint by sunday night

Sweet!

looks good! here comes the start of a bunch of wires!!!

independant electric line locks per wheel? pretty neat. you runnin a rear air locker? if so you plannin to unlock the rear and use em like cutting brakes.

yea i've used them for over 10 years, more usefull for front digs, works pretty good. have to be really coordinated to use as a cutting brake, but possible. just a detroit in the rear, still works with the locks, as long as rear shaft disconnected- no torque to lock the detroit, still like an open diff. arb in the front though. will be locks on each wheel. also a great parking brake; i rarely put my rig in park on the trail, always use the locks when pausing somewhere. another good use is in severe downhills i lock the rear brakes at half pedal or so, gives me alil more control. or you can lock the brakes out if the situation calls for it. each lock bout $35.

That is an incredible idea. I'll be looking into that to get rid of the parking brake cable that like to snag everything.

I'm assuming it's not to complicated of a system to wire?

its a 12v micro line lock used on Drag racing set ups mostly. its a simple on off circuit that shuts an electric piston with an electric actuated magnet. As a park brake however they are totally dependant on the whole system applying adaquate clamping pressure on one full brake pedal stroke and the caliper/wheel cylinder or the valve from leaking pressure past its sealing o-rings.

awesome! that rear axle is pure beef! Great Work!

thanks man, i hope so. only thing not beefed are the shafts. but they are beefy in themselves. there are always spares close by though.

i'm pretty excited about the extra clearance and the confidence you get from the truss, it might get me in trouble:rolleyes:

I witnessed my buddy P.J. crack a 14bolt housing at both tubes on superman at the flats this fall. sold me on trussing it for the buggy build. i just sold him my spare housing to replace the busted one. of course, when you bounce a 44 bogger 3 feet in the air at 3000 rpm's, all kindsa shit breaks, also got his rear yoke, driveshaft and ujoint. fun day:flipoff2:

alil progress tonight, sorry no pics, ass kicked. got both housings painted and brake lines installed. also welded and painted the links, trans crossmember, and atlas pinion support.

made appointment with billy at alliance for saturday the 5th for plumbing.

talked to ben at maaco today and will be picking up the chassis and body from paint tomorrow afternoon. hopefully by bed time the chassis will be sitting back on its axles/tires for the final time. and if were real efficient we may get the motor/trans/tcase back in!
