FB Market Place Buyer=Douche

when folks show up in stuff that I know they cant haul what Im selling in the back of,I know they're most likely wasting my time.No my dana 60 front wont fit in the trunk if your civic and its doubtful youll be back in my lifetime.Ive said it before and really believe it.Every phycology major needs to spend at least one semester selling stuff on MP.

It would truly blow their minds.

I find that marketplace is a pain in the ass to search and I also hate the quick buttons for folks to ask if it's available. I really miss craigs being the main venue. I do think the scammers have moved to marketplace though, so it has made craigs more desireable.
The results are never consistent.I look multiple times every day and alot of times see something I haven't saw before that was listed over a week ago in the same search area using the same key words.I wont use the still available button cause I feel like people largely ignore it.I take the time to type out an inquiry.

I would think some would reconsider that profession. In all seriousness its shameful the amount of people that can't complete a simple transaction outside of a Walmart type setting.

you should try selling stuff overseas. I have sold a few things and it is sketchy as heck. But so far so good. I have had to work with a translator once, and also a middle man once. Everything is a gamble.

Anyone else get the crackhead vibe from the last part of this message.

He has lowered the price from $100 to $80, and has had it listed for 4 weeks. Maybe all of a sudden he just needs an unlocked phone or something šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

And if that doesn't work out for ya, I have the exact same weedeater I'd consider selling so that I could upgrade to the QUIK-LOK version and add the pole saw.

I posted the engine on CL today. Within 2 hours, I had a guy, from SC, wanting it at my asking price. He says he is traveling to Hickory in the morning, to buy something. Then he will come to me on his way back. Driving a Suburban, pulling a trailer for the engine. We have swapped phone numbers for texting. We'll see how that works out. In the mean time, another guy on FB, hit the Is It Available button. I replied with the Yes button. End of that! Another guy has inquired probably 3 times with questions, like how many miles on it. Don't know what's up with him. Just like another member on here, that's acting as a go between with his friend. I don't look for that to pan out. Been too long & drawn out. Anyone around Hickory anyone in the AM? lol
Craigslist for the WIN.....hopefully people wake up to the worthless-ness of the marketplace.....the search function is garbage on the best of days. I posted my box truck on Marketplace and Craigslist at the sametime (give or take a few mins.). I had 3 buyers lined up in the hour from the craigslist ad....from posting at 7pm to having cash in hand took less than 15 hours (and I spent most of those sleeping).

Another Win for Craig's List! But only 1 buyer, as of a few minutes ago. The guy from Greenville, made his rounds today, & I was his last stop. Nice guy. He wants to rebuild the engine, & took everything [flywheel/pressure plate/disc]! I do notice I don't see any tracking of how many viewers a listing has. Market Place showed me having 779 "Clicks" as they call it. Great; but Why would 779 people view my ad, when probably no less than 15 - 20, would even be interested?
Well, Thank God it's gone!

Because people like me look at all sorts of things I have no real likelihood of buying šŸ˜‚

I don't either, and make it a point to type out complete, coherent sentemces punctuation etc. Especially w/ a CL reach-out to a seller, to make it clear I'm not a robot or Nigerian.
On FB MP, if I get an "is this item still available?" I reply with "which item? I have lots of stuff" which weeds out a lot

Must be the same people my wife and I coached when we were in our 30s ..... they couldn't even order their own food at McD's.

Does Canada count??? A buddy of mine had a winch off a D41 Komatsu he wanted me to sell for him.I put it online and some dude from Can wanted it.Sent a Bank of America check for it w the understanding it would be 10-14 days before he could get the winch.Went to the Bank of America in town and they wouldnt cash it even though they said the funds were there to cover it.Took it to my bank.deposited it and three weeks later a truck picked it up.The equip guys sure are a trusting bunch. My buddy has sent money to people for machines that he's never saw in person and took weeks to get and sold them the same way.:shaking: I guess Im not willing to stretch my neck that far.

Bringin this back up.I drove to Salisbury NC today (7.5 hours round trip) to get a trans/case off a dude on MP.Dude shows it to me and its not even the one he had pictured. He used the wrong pictures!! Even after I ask if it was as pictured.Seller's suck too.

Oh man, you were in my neck of the woods!
Dang... Sweet pickles and Jen. I can't think of a better way to spend lunch. Missed connections šŸ˜

The biggest problem I have with FB and CL is people agreeing to a deal and a place to meet.
When they don't show up and I call they sold it to someone else.
I've lost count how many times this has happened.

Honestly it was such a hard to find trans/case I was willing to make the drive to have it here quick(er). It was a one year only 4L80E/round pattern 205 w VSS from a Square body V3500,or at least the pictures were.
