sharp bug

i HAD a 72 super convertable that i restored from the ground up for my wife. shaved body lines, slammed, sewfine int.,top bla bla. i had well over 10k in that car...the day i sold it for 5500 was one of my shining moments.

i'd rather walk than drive that sumbitch...wait a minute...i had to walk every time we did drive it:shaking:

man that does suck to hear your bad experience..

but if I can convince my wife I have a new plan in store for my bug :)

of course she likes bug so much i may end up with a second one. one for her and this modified one for me :)

in all fairness i do have to admitt that alot of the problems were due to the length of time the car didn't run during the restoration...i work SLOW.
once it started with the nit picky crap and the wife would call from the side of the road AGAIN, i started losing my patience with it. the last time it quit on her, i told her i would be there in a few minutes and to have anything important out of the car because i was coming in the deuce and half to crush it...she was PISSED
she was also pissed when i sold it. i had to promise a rhino/mule to get out of the dog house
i think she still has some pics of the car, i'll post them if i can find them

I like it, especially the round headlights, but I have to say the louvers need to go, especially in the front since they face UP and not DOWN. All they're good for is collecting water, unless there's nothing but air underneath in which case they let that water INTO the trunk!

If you haven't yet, replace those with solid ones and get it to a paint shop, or DIY.

Well almost lost the bug this morning...

on the way to work the inside of the bug filled with smoke from fire.. so i pulled into a street, stopped, ripped up rear seat and found a wire that was shorted out on some metal and was buring the carpet and everything else around it.. I just grabbed it and ripped it off the battery terminal.. then I quickly ripped the burning wire out of the car and stomped out the carpet that was burning.. I do have an extinguisher in car, but it was not bad enough to let that rip..

the good news is all lights work and car still runs , so once smoke cleared from inside of car I drove the rest of way to work...

but man I have this terible smell in my nose and can not get rid of it..

just glad I was quick on my feet and got it stopped asap..but wow what a scare

Glad it worked out for you, that could have been bad, real bad.

i want a beetle

anybody got a beetle they want to trade for a kaiser jeep m715

Well after a few months of my freinds nagging me to get a new Pan since my is literally failing apart.. I figured it was time.

so the plan is to strip this one down fix the few small rust areas and then put it on full air ride and swap my chopped body onto it.

I got the pan, a front beam, a set of rims and tires.. not bad.. having a roller will really help so I can get full air suspension built and on before i swap the body
