Upclose of rear seat mounts welded up.

I got the other floor crossbar in. I still have to make the front seat tabs.

I also started fabricating the air vents that I am re-doing. The stainless steel pieces are from Genright Offroad. They're actually for their tube fenders and they were on a closeout so I figured that they would work for what I was planning. I think it looks pretty good. I still have to make a stop and a latch so I can shut the doors when it's cold.

A little more progress. These are some pics from work this morning and yesterday evening after it got to dark to take pics.

I got the whole cage painted except for the floor tubing where I have to add the front seat mounts.

This shot is from the driver side showing the room between the cage and the soft door.

Here are a few more pics with everything mocked up (door, sliders and seats). Again, that ugly tan door will be sheeted with steel and painted black (I'll fabricate them like the Poison Spyder door skins but with thicker steel probably).

Looking sweet, thinking this is in my Jan issue of JP magazine.

Thanks man! It's definitely in the January Issue of JP. The pics from JP mag were pretty early on in the build.

I finished up the seat mounts today. I fab'd the seat mounts, welded them on and painted the rest of the cage. The only thing I lack, is the b-pillar top side. I'll have to cut the roof to finish it.

I also removed the old steering column and cut it apart and scraped what I didn't need and re-used the steering shaft that was inside of the column. The steering shaft will be mounted to a heim joint that will connected to the roll cage.

Mocked up with my removable steering wheel hub.

I am not a big Jeep fan at all, but this thing rocks! If I ever build a Jeep I'm going to have to find one of these and use Toyota motor/trans/axles

Thanks! I considered a 'yota drivetrain originally but it just didn't fit the the style I wanted. It would have made a great drivetrain tho. I am finding more and more parts on this thing with "made in USA" stamped on them and I love it! Jap just didn't feel right on this one. I wana build a yota truck in the future.

Man, this thing is looking so badass!

Much Appreciated. I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. My girlfriend is already asking me what my next jeep project will be! I think she's a keeper. I hope to get some sheet metal so I can start building the floors this weekend. If not that, I'm hoping to borrow a cherry picker from war beast so I can pull the old motor out and get it prepped and ready for the new drivetrain. Tons to do but I'm so happy with the progress so far and it's great to hear the awesome feedback from you guys.

This thing is lame.... Way too many dudes on the trails have this style rig!

Now this guy on the other hand...:fuck-you: haha! Mitchell, I'm going to come by your house and loosen one of the leaf springs on your TJ. haha!!

If you can't get Warbeast's cherry picker, give me a shout. I have one that you could use.

I expect to see you on the trails this week end monday at the latest no more excuses

Thanks man! Much appreciated! I guess I need to get to work now. I'll have the old motor and tranny ready for you by monday or tuesday at the latest. Then I'll get the whole engine bay cleaned up and ready for the new motor (I'm still looking for a motor...haha) You can pick up the cherry picker and old motor by next week. I really appreciate you picking up my scrap.

No problem. I can say I had a hand in the build. I took a peek inside and it looks way better than in the pics. I don't see how a full sized human is going to fit between that seat and dash though.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. That's a great compliment! Maybe I'm just a half pint. I moved those seats back as far as possible. I even cut the floors out as much as possible. Cross your fingers that I can move my legs to push the clutch in. hahaha! :driver: You should have sat down in one of the seats.

I thought about it, but we were a bit rushed to get to a doc appointment and then up to Lenoir to get a truck. I didn't thing crawling in to that over sized pedal car and getting stuck would have been a good idea.

By t he way what crack addict laid out the parking lot and driveways to the Cookout on Sardis. Just pulling the small 10 foot trailer was a blood pressure raising experience, but worth it for those yummy corn dogs.

I got the motor and transmission pulled today. Good riddens! I pulled the grill to make it easier to get the motor out.

Feel free to cut a notch in that handle so you can raise and lower the boom with it. The original handle got lost and that is one out of an old jack. I keep meaning to cut it but keep forgetting to.
