Got the short course racing itch?...

If I can find a co-conspirator that lives less than 30 minutes away.

Time to start conspiritatin' @shawn

Well there are 4 of us already talking about it. With in 39 mins :)
Time to light a fire under yall @BRUISER

damn this sounds really great!! i dont need another vehicle to spend on but, if this really pans out i would sell some junk!! i like the rules, hopefully keep the big money in other classes/organizations.
Time to sale some junk @Infamous1

@MarsFab Add 1 more to your build total. I am in.
Call me Monday and lets chat...
Time to get Chris on the line;) @Ron

Somebody build a nice one to accommodate a 6'4" driver with shallow pockets and I'll buy it.
As you wish sir! @BIGWOODY might need a small deposit though.

We aren't talking about racing r/c trucks, they will need some room to spread out too. You can't fit a 3 wide turn on half a football field.

We're gonna do it on 3/4 of a football field! @tw89yj

Ok what are the year and engine size rangers im looking for exactly

83 to 97 model 4cyl 5 speed 2wd. but looking to be able to purchase 6 cyl models and change engines if thats all we can find.( Will can explain this idea a lil' more.)

Will Carter will be the ''go to'' guy on the tech side. KOH is happening and alot of key players are there. So expect a firm''ish'' rule book in a couple weeks. Meanwhile, Will Carter can address some of these questions when he sees them.

Another thing to add to my earlier post is that the landowner will have this place available pretty often for test and tune or practice. Like more than once a month you'll be able to have a place to take these trucks, pay a few bucks and make laps all day long. So spending 5k on a truck that you'll only drive once or twice a year won't be an issue.

My dad has one my grandpaw had and he said he would take $1700 for it.
97 4 cylinder 5 speed regular cab
Not sure of mileage

Hopefully Will can talk with Scott Decker about the final build rules. It looks like it will make it easier to find these trucks if we can broaden the search to blown up 6 cyl trucks..then it'd be easier to add a a 4 banger and just use a 2bb carb on it. Not have to worry about fuel injection and that kind of stuff.

Side note..If anyone sees the craigslist add for the ranger in Mocksville..I just checked it out. Its a 91 reg cab. It's junk for the asking price of 1300, but may be worth the 4 or 5 hundred that I offered him. He said he could not go that low.

The tranny had way to much slop in the shifter, the clutch seemed funny, the front was wrecked, the fender was junk, the door was falling off, but it did run and drive. The brakes seemed ok..so Id say it was worth maybe 500 with all those problems.

Sounds like your cherokee:flipoff2:

This screams Nathan, Stretch, and Adam. Oh the beaver flats....

This sounds like the night before we hacked your pile apart for the SAS. haha. Wayyyy too much firewater.

Cool to see something coming together on this. I'll definitely keep an eye on this thread. Want to see the "final" rules before pulling the trigger on a donor truck.

this^^^^

this^^^^^ x2. Would love to do this bit want to know the rules and make sure this is something thats going to be around for awhile before I jump into it

Working on a few more rule tweaks to increase the selection of available trucks that can be purchased and also to keep a more level playing field engine wise. (Still just TTB Rangers so stop asking me if your S10 or Toyota can race.)

The rest of the brain trust is in KOH mode right now so it's kinda slow goings on getting things 'finalized'.

There are also a few minor things that need to be addressed such as brake systems (which are way more important in 2wd racing than in 4wd) but I won't know exactly know what to spec out until I get a truck to drive. But we're only talking about 50 bucks in 'upgrades' that should yield a much better driving experience and show.
