Here come the hurricanes!

my wife is on her way back from the family house in Little River. sounds like it's right in the projected
path. my brothers are on their way down to put the shutters on and prep the house for the storm.
25+years ago we cut all the tall trees on our property down after hurricane / tree damage. the neighbors however
have tall trees that could damage our place if they fall the right direction.

I had 4 generators...
I had 2 of the generators for sale for months. While in Lowe’s on Saturday I saw all of them for sale so I renewed my listing on FB. In less than 12 hours both were sold for full price.

But my dumb luck, the two generators I kept won’t start now... :shaking:

You sir are evil capitalist scum

:D

Apparently it went from a Cat 2 to a Cat 4 in about 4 hours. Dammit man...

I actually had someone tell me that via messenger because I updated the listing after one sold and the price adjusted specific to the one I had left. Prices and descriptions were in the body of the listing but for some reason she had her mind made up I was gouging by selling a 4,000 watt powerhorse generator with 10 hours on it for $300 instead of the $350 I was selling it for or $600 in the store new. :shaking:

Idiots don’t even read the descriptions.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m wasting my time dealing with idiots.

Now I just need to figure out how to get at least one of these remaining generators working for myself.

Just went to lowes and tractor supply in Sanford to get a couple of hardware items....both places were absolutely swamped. Chainsaws picked clean, generators picked clean. I was gonna pick up some canned fuel m in x just because, but all gone. 25 people in line at single open register at tractor supply...

Weird. I was at Home Depot yesterday, and everybody else was there picking out shrubberies and buying mulch and trimmer string.

I’m supposed to be coming to sign the papers on our house the first part of next week. We have waited forever to get everything lined up and now this shit! On a side note if I do make the trip I’ll have a 3500 dually with nothing but me in it so if I need to stop for a pallet of water or xyz let me know. I ain’t rich but I’d be more than willing to help as best I can with outside support. I’ll be coming from La. across I20 up through to Aberdeen.

That was before the experts started comparing it to Hazel last night. And said it will be the worst ever. "But dont panic"

Well, I did just go buy a nice Stihl chainsaw at lunch. I was cleaning up around the house with the ancient cheapo Husqvarna and it finally gave up the ghost. The very last one they had was the exact one I knew I wanted and I just happened to be the right spot in line. So I wasn't trying to add to the panic, but it was just a coincidence.

And just think if this where a real "SHIFT"..........................doom, dooom, doooooooooooooooooom

Traffic in Raleigh has been nuts today, all I can figure is it is people buying stuff to make milk sammiches? Costco looked like a madhouse when I rode past around lunch time.

Mandatory evac for the northern OBX starting 7AM tomorrow. They're calling for a 15-20ft storm surge from Wilmington to Lookout. :(

Don't worry everyone. According to my manager at work anyone prepping for this is a fool it's not even going to make landfall. It's just a false alarm like they always do for hurricanes or snow.

If you want a HF generator hit up the HF distribution warehouse in Marion, SC...... Hope all you NC VA coast people will be ok. MIL is in Summerville, SC so I suspect I'll be heading that way after it blows through if it goes south.

Walmart at Triangle Town Center was out of water so most people were buying Gatorade.

I don't get the panic over water. There's going to be quite a lot of it falling from the sky, at no cost.
But that requires, you know, planning ahead... and some level of enjuneering

A lady posted on nextdoor that she had bad flooding in her basement during Fran and Matthew, so she is "taking plenty of precautions" this time around... by waiting until this afternoon to ask where she can get sand bags.

not implying you did it but another reason for the Gov. declaired a emergency was to get price gouging guidelines in place. The increase over normal pricing should be only 10 percent I believe.

Yep.

And when I said “full price” I meant asking price, which was typical used generator price. :)
