Here come the hurricanes!

I knew you would do the honorable thang. Now the folks I saw rolling out of Big Blue Store with 3 and 4 units...well,I know what is up wid dem.

Let's see,
1 beer
2 toilet paper
3 beef jerky
4 fuel in truck
5 chain saws ready (plenty of fuel, oil, multiple spare chains)
6 canoe to catch water for toilet
7 freeze big blocks of ice (so I don't lose everything in the deep freeze)
8 No Power=No work!

Everything ready but the power outage!

Brilliant! But make sure you tie it up well so your water collection system doesn't float away...
Or, if it gets bad enough, you might need it for transportation.
I normally use a 50gal trash can w/ some bricks in the base to keep it put. Although technically a canoe is a much more effective collection system!

Biggest problem is if & when you Do have to get out, All food & supplies will be gone. So will the Gas stations. Get in the Mass line of evacs, & spend hours trying to get nowhere. Then you run out of Fuel. Hotels are overbooked. It happens! Last Major storm, evacs ended up in Rock Hill & Charlotte, before finding a room.
Some came all the way to ASheville NC,cause they bought some stuff off me while they were here.

Looks like Carteret and Pamlico counties are being evacuated. Craven will probably be next...and guess where I live :(

Pamlico and Carteret have a very large amount of water frontage though...they miiiight not make us leave. If they do, I have no idea where I'll be going.

I don’t have much room, but we should be plenty fine here if you need a couch to sleep on.

Getting my big gen set ready at work today and tomorrow and getting my personal gen ready at home. I thing the stupid ethanol fuel swelled up the float seat making it die at WOT :poop:

Luckily my gen at work is running like a top. I'd rather be uncomfortable here than lose a bunch of product there.

Started clearing everything oout of our river warehouses today. Hopefully have them all cleaned out tomorrow.

I'm not too worried about the wind this far inland (Wake) but the rain potential has me a tad concerned.
Just hoping all the trees on the property stay standing.
Y'all stay safe the next few days

Got mom, grandma and my aunt squared away here in Charlotte with the essentials. Its a shitshow down here too. Generators flying off shelves, pallets of water not even making it out of the back of the store. Headed back to Durm tomorrow night and I'm just waiting to see how far inland it might fuck things up. Have to head to the farm this weekend anyway for some pre-wedding stuff so if I need to, I can bring the Miller Bobcat and aux tank back to the house with me. Our Co-op luckily has a pretty accurate app that keeps us updated on outages and whatnot. Saw and consumables for it are ready, spare 3 gal of 50:1 in the dirtbike if I need to siphon some off, batteries, LED flashlights, food, booze all good to go. Since we are on a well, just need a few more cases of water to pad the few we usually have around the house. About all is left is to take the enclosed trailer to the office so its in an open lot and away from trees.

My biggest worry about if we have to leave is my 4 dogs. They're obviously coming with me, but will be scared shitless.

I'm also worried about how bad Hwy 70 will be and how far out the gas stations will have run out of gas/fuel. Then, if we leave and the hurricane goes farther inland too...not to mention how bad it will flood in Kinston and I likely wouldn't be able to get back home for a while.

I asked my grandma how bad Hazel was here and she said they rode it out in my great grandma's house that's right down the road. I'll probably know for sure what I'll be doing by tomorrow afternoon.

Back in 1989 my grandma came up from Florence, SC to stay with my parents in Charlotte to get away from hurricane Hugo. There were 3 limbs blown down in Florence. My parents had over 100 trees down and no power for 27 days. Hopefully the forecasting has become more accurate.

Local news is saying just a 40/50% chance of rain here over the wknd. Going to be interesting lol.

The news channel I watched this morning clearly confirmed my thoughts. Other than we have a hurricane and it is going to hit nc at some point, they don’t have a clue as to what it’s going to do from there. I have big plans in a land locked state this wknd and this is really messing with me.

I haven't done squat in preparation. I figure I'm far enough away.

Only thing I'm worried about our way is the amount of rain. That and NOAA is showing a pretty solid chance of 58+ mph winds. Should still get interesting.
