Is this for real, URE race?

One of our club elders mentioned this race at our Christmas party. I was skeptical and we all had the same questions and ''yeah, buts'' and ''they cant close the park''. So its starting to sound more like a reality now, huh?
 
Sounds like a great time to completely trash a stocker.

Right now, I am thinking stocker class/ stomp the gas!

This will probably be the fastest class...speed wise.IMO
A stocker will handle better at higher speeds.
Need proof? Check the times at the DPG ROCK RACE!
Most of us in the small tire class posted faster times than
**most** of the big class guys.

If it's for real I'm in. B class all the way. I guess I'll wait to regear the XJ and lock the front till later. The only thing I'm concerned about is that I can make it over everything on Daniel and Kodak so how easy is the course going to be for the B class? From the way it sounds I think I'm going to be having a good ol Dukes of Hazzard run out there if I dont have to hit the bigger stuff.

How can they charge spectators? I always thought it was free to be at URE as long as you stay off the trails (in a vehicle).

At $35/person for a weekend pass just to watch, that is ALOT of money. I too would like to know where all the excess money is going to...

It also seems that this is "americanwheelers" first event. It will be interesting to see if more than 20 rigs show up...

If mine's done and it happens, I'll be there. Now I have something to plan to be ready for...
 
Good luck, but I'll believe it when I see it. You aren't the first overzealous promoter to hype something up and even take sponsor/competitor money, then have it never happen. I'd like to see it though.

And how are you going to have the largest rock race ever on the east coast in five months without anyone on NC's largest 4wd bb even knowing?

Why no phone numbers and no names on the web site and why no last name and stuff like that?
Why no list of venders. All you want on the web site is for people to sign up and to get ticket and sign up money....

Got me thinking its a Hoax.... Yes you got a permit if that is true but that could be part of the Hoax but when we did a show we had stuff out 6 months early and a list of contact names and numbers and the venders that would be there......
Don't know whats going on but will never give money to someone with no last name, blackangus01 or "americanwheelers" or Sean-D who ever you are.......

And if I find you take money from all my friends, I have friends in the big sand box that did not get all there hunting in this year yet..........:rolleyes:
 
So far,(ON THIS FORUM) there have been 2 last names for Shawn. One which is Shawn D and one which is Shawn Sallitte.
My contact says he has spoken with a Shawn Dees.
And didnt actually know that our Logo was on your web-site.
My contact said not to be Super alarmed about the logo just yet, but we did need more substantial proof, so our name was not tarnished. Lots of question Shawn, lots of Questions.
 
and one would think that an event this size would also want and have the endorsement of SWFDA and it's membership club's.

Yeah, this thing reeks of foulness. in many ways.

No raceday registraition, hmm, maybe because nobody will be there ?

If it is real, who is insuring this shindig ? you cannot have a motorsports event in a public area without insurance, especially a National Forest. and an event where folks are actually operating a vehicle at any speed, it ain't gonna be cheap !

Why so you can run with the stock rubicoons? They are so bad ass after all.

Oh, by the way, I'm having a rock crawling event at Telico Feb 3. I need everyone who wants to compete to send me $300, and anyone who wants to watch send me $35. I prefer cash. There will be loads of prizes and $50000 up for grabs.
 
$100 to $350 entry fee , man thats hillarious. We can't get a good field of competitors for a $25 entry fee. yeah its not that big of a payout but we did that to keep from scaring some people away. If there is this big of an interest with that kind of payout we can work out something for the next rock race at dpg!!! I call bullshit on this ure race pipedream. If it does happen it will be an absolute logistic nitemare for a clubs first time event . GFL

if this isn't sponsored by or affiliated w/ CTB I'd have him remove your logo pronto, at least until you know for sure this is legit.

The class requirements/limits are kind of ridiculous.

I hope this is legit as it would be really fun, but my hopes aren't up as high as my BS flag is yet.
